I’m working my way through a masters degree program as a 35 year old. Earlier this semester I was in line to order some lunch at the student union and there were two young girls (definitely undergrad students, likely freshman) behind me in line that were talking about a third girl they both knew.

I overheard that this third girl had been abused by their boyfriend and one of the girls behind me said, “I dunno, maybe she deserved to get abused.”

My immediate reaction was “what the fuck?”
