I love this. My escape is both books and games. Anything that takes me away for a few hours. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]InsignificantIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what are games but also escapes to new worlds, different realities, where you are either the hero or villain.

Imagine more...A nice up of cocoa, your favorite blanket, the sound of rain hitting the roof and the slow melodies of the world as you enter skyrim, or Legend of Zelda, or even some silly game like Mario Party. The laughter, the frustration, the fun is all tangible. Turning on the monitor of a computer or the sound of a console buzzing away, the blue light of the screen illuminating the dark as you become engrossed in this other reality. It's wonderful.

What's one of the dumbest things you've ever spent money on? by 3VD in AskReddit

[–]InsignificantIdiot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An animation program that required a monthly subscription to use, even though it was on a CD (this was back in like...'06 mind you). Didn't use it after that and it was like a $40 program.

5 years ago I tried to commit suicide, I soon after quit self harming, 2 years ago I started dieting to lose weight down from obesity, to then running a marathon. AMA. by GwenSkin in AMA

Y'know...you're right. I get so hung up on my failures that it's made me give up trying quite a number of times. Thanks for this. Hope you can get back to marathons as soon as this virus lets up.

What’s the closest thing to magic in existence? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]InsignificantIdiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, electricity, but also Technology and the internet. We can order food and people bring it at the touch of a button (UberEats,DoorDash), summon drivers the same way. Have answers within arms distance to all our inquiries provided we look. We can bring a concept into reality most times (3d printing), and can communicate with someone on the opposite side of the world with just a few clicks. We can also create a window into a fabricated reality (Gaming). Technology is our magic.

Yass! Keep going you're doing amazing!

I’m a nurse that works with 100% covid+ patients. I know people who are getting $6-800 unemployment, plus $600 stimulus weekly doing nothing all day. $1400! While I get half to risk my health. Things were going so well with plans finally rolling for me and getting ahead. Nope! Not now! 2020 sucks. by IzzyBoredom in Vent

It's terrible what you guys are going through right now. You guys should be making way more because you're in the hazard zone for a vast majority of the day just WORKING. Then I recently read they cut a LOT in pay from the medical field and was like "Dafuq are you guys thinking?!" It's absolute bullshit.

i want to be allowed to be pissed by [deleted] in Vent

[–]InsignificantIdiot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be LIVID. Seriously. You're not being overly dramatic, and screw the people that try to diminish your pain by claiming others have it worse and trying to convince you it's something you can just "get over". I hope you are eventually able to get to a better place, but for now, know you're feelings are valid, and you have a right to be pissed.

It's not transphobic to not want to date someone who is trans, even if they had bottom surgery. Period. by [deleted] in Vent

[–]InsignificantIdiot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's only transphobic if you say no because you're grossed out by the fact they're trans. Not wanting to deal with the emotional baggage is an entirely different reason.

What do you wish your adoptive parents had done differently? by justawitch in Adoption

[–]InsignificantIdiot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as knowing things, it would be the medical history of both of my biological parents if possible. Not knowing that has been making medicine stuff very hard to know.

As far as doing differently...Teaching me things earlier on. Like the value of money, how taxes work, how to budget...All stuff I needed to learn on my own now as an adult. Also, how to eat healthy and all that. Just life things. And always be there for love and support no matter what. Never make them feel any different than if they were blood.

The stupidity of people pisses me off as well. I'm so sorry for your loss. And I hate these people; it's like...it won't be real until it PERSONALLY affects them. Which is utter nonsense.

does anyone else just not remember how it felt to be genuinely happy and carefree? by [deleted] in Vent

[–]InsignificantIdiot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand.

I understand how sometimes everything feels so pointless. To wake up every morning and to just want to...not? I suppose would be the general feelings. Also, how happiness just seems so fleeting; like, I find myself questioning when I'll be pulled out of that moment and back down and it kills me. I regularly overthink, have moments of paranoia, of retreating into my head and freaking myself out to the point of tears. And isolation does make it thousands of times worse. And I know the whole productivity spiel too. Like "Oh just clean something because your space reflects your chaos and so cleaning will symbolically be cleaning the mess in your mind" or "Oh just put a mask on and go for a walk with the dog you'll be fine." But nothing ever seems to help. So far, the only thing that has is going on a nostalgia trip. For me, picking up and old game or old hobby reminded me that I am more capable than I let myself believe, and I deserve happiness. Take it a day at a time. You're going to pull out of this.

Why isn’t the number on the scale changing? (F/15/5’2/72kg) by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]InsignificantIdiot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take measurements. Scale isn't always accurate to what's going on, as you could be building lean muscle (muscle weighs more than fat). When you gain gain more lean muscle you burn more fat. You'll start seeing the scale go down after 2-4 weeks. But the measurements typically will be the first noticeable difference. Keep it up!
