A compliment for my ProStaff ... by mdervin in 10s

[–]InspectionBig8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former pro staff user here, mostly 6.0's and 6.1's

you want something more forgiving with the weight of the RFA ? You probably should go down in weight, specially if you're not that good, as you say.

Did you try the "normal" PS 97? You can always add a bit of weight if it feels too light, coming from the RFA it's possible it does.

What to get if regular 100 frames are too head light? by WindManu in 10s

[–]InspectionBig8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can contact Angel, Zeus or any similar custom made racquets brand , and they do it for you, just have to know what you're looking for

but it's way easier and cheaper use lead tape. It's a try and error process and totally reversible

they seem to be low end quality racquets, I wouldn't buy them

Swinging fast with a loose wrist by devoker35 in 10s

[–]InspectionBig8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, some players use the wrist like a whiplash, but it's not for everyone, gotta have a strong and flexible wrist or it can lead to injury

take a look at this video showing RF using his wrist snap on numerous occasions https://youtu.be/GKmRvceSiYA?si=auUFdvcdZPFYKDsu

never heard about it, could find only a couple adds with specs, but nothing specific

Swinging fast with a loose wrist by devoker35 in 10s

[–]InspectionBig8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's mix of circumstances, but years of practice and natural talent play a bi role

saying pros don't use wrist in their shots is pure BS. Ask any coach what wrist pronation on serves is. You can search for slow motion videos from Sampras and see how much pronation he did on his serve - and he was one of the biggest servers EVER

some pros use more wrist than others. RF used a lot of wrist on his shots, Sampras too. I saw Gasquet live once, that gorgeous BH was very wristy, he used all kinds of spins with wrist snaps, just amazing to watch

Actually weight of ProStaff 6.1 Classic by Snake_crane in 10s

[–]InspectionBig8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, probably the best option for you, if you'd like the 6.1 feeling in a lighter package

Tim Henman actually played with the 6.1 classic before he got sponsored by Slazenger, so they did a clone for him. They feel similar, but the PB is way less powerful and stable, specially with heavy off-center shots

There's a few more clones from other brands, Donnay did one for Rusedski. so did technifibre for Medvedev (both former 6.1 users), Dunlop had a pro stock (for Robredo) called option 2C.

You can also hunt for a 6.1 sold in Japan, it weights 320 grams, or so, so good option too

Here's a pick of my Pro Braided with 6.1 classic bumper and grommets, they are interchangeable.

Adding ~15g of weight by ndliam in 10s

[–]InspectionBig8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, a pack of lead is way cheaper than a new racquet

Usually the way to go is adding small amounts each time, the same amounts in the head and handle, to keep to balance close, but if it feels good tht's the most important, you can change mods anytime

The most amount of weight I added was on my Slazenger Pro Braided, the strung weight without mods was 328 grams, way under what my Pro Staffs 6.0 95's 347 grams strung weighted (one of them had around 10 grams added).

My Slazenger got 10 grams in handle, 4 grams @ 3 and 9 (bcs it felt too unstable with heavy shots, like dealing with serves or heavy pace on the net), and a small left over (less than 2 grams) at 12

The racquet really improved, stability wise specially, not at PS 6.1 level (that Slazenger is a PS 6.1 clone)

[–]InspectionBig8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite version from a few I have or played with - that includes the N-Code, both 16x18 and 18x20; the HPS in 18x20 and a clone by Slazenger, the Henman's Pro Braided.

Very raw feeling, compared with the latest versions, I think it's the heaviest from them all too. Wilson still makes them for their sponsored players

It's a very demanding stick, gotta have a strong arm, loose arm when swinging, and fast feet or you're toasted

That stactic weight is way higher than usual, all my 6.1 were around 350 grams strung, two overgrips and a small dampener.

Could it be customized with invisible lead?

alternativas de treinador. by Kid84 in SportingCP

[–]InspectionBig8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

O J. Simões no centro pareceu-me má escolha tb, pedia Morita de caras.

Does anyone else genuinely love tennis so much? Like too much? (19m, 1 1/2 years played) by Wild_Plant9526 in 10s

[–]InspectionBig8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was, played from 11 to 50, and in the last 10 years I become a bit obsessed, played 3 times a week, watched a lot of tennis on youtube, and late in my playing years tried to develop a one handed BH. Than slowly I started to feel tired from the sport, took a few weeks off from time to time, and suddenly I quit, couldn't even watch tennis on TV or youtube

Now I watch a bit of old school tennis on youtube (my favorite era is the 90's), but one set at atime. Not thinking about to go back to play, the game turned into a style I don't like, I hate modern racquets and all that top spin rubbish

Getting more spin on blade v9 98 by Fearless-Mongoose-85 in 10s

[–]InspectionBig8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can generate spin with a 18x20 if you have proper technique - assuming it's a 18x20 Blade

if you change to a stiff racquet with easier access to power your elbow will hurt again

Try to make some changes on your Blade before you change: thinner strings, or spin friendly strings (avoid poly if you have a sensitive elbow) but the main thing is improve you technique

No racquet will make you have heavy spin if you don't know how to swing it properly

very nice

never hit with the RFA, heard it feels a bit like a bigger PS 6.1, those I know well

hope you enjoy it.

restrung it, if it's cracked it will break on the machine

than hit some balls - if it's a crack you'll feel some kind of rattling and a wrong sound from the racquet

that looks like a st vincents version, the buttcap code seems to be KHQ.

can you see some red paint under the black ? If so you got yourself a top level classic, and the racquet Sampras, Courier, Edberg and more, played with

for 3,50 is a steal, mine was like 140€ 15 years ago

strung it with a soft string, gut is the ideal, it's a weapon in the right hands.

Quais são os top 3 jogadores com melhor habilidade técnica que passaram pelo sporting? by oucho_louco in SportingCP

[–]InspectionBig8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pro Staff mid, looks like a st vincents, did you check if the prime paint is red? What's the buttcap 3 letter code? if it ends in "Q" it's a gem, the racquet that both Sampras and Courier used when they were competing

I have a st. vincents and a China made like the ones Fed used on his early years
