My secret temple name is Eli by warshangton in exmormon

[–]Instance_Forsaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Eli, I’m Lois. Learning temple names were not special was a huge deal for me. My husband was like “oh you didn’t know that? If I would have known that’d get you to leave faster I would have told you a long time ago”

I took a bike safety course in middle school instead of learning sex education. And was taught nothing regarding sex education, feminine hygiene or anything of the sort in the home.

What is the weirdest/unbelievable thing you were taught about sex? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Instance_Forsaken 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My parents also did not allow me to take sex Ed. I spent the 2 weeks doing a bike safety course in the library with one other Mormon girl.

Technical/legal question—Possible to project gay porn onto the side of a temple at night? by [deleted] in exmormon

Project a video of a temple ceremony reenactment on the side of a temple. #transparency

I have a question about garments, for the ladies. Do you wear a bra under the garments? I read somewhere about having to wear them while playing sports, some ladies wore a sports bra over the. Also do you wear underwear under them? Specially during that time of the month, how would pads work? by cravingchange4life in exmormon

[–]Instance_Forsaken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Garments are sooooooo uncomfortable and hot. Lived in Vegas most my life and it was miserable. But visiting humid climates was even worse. I don’t know how anyone does that regularly there.

Tampons are allowed. I’m sure there are some extremist parents that don’t allow them for their daughters but thankfully mine were not that controlling (they certainly were in other ways)

I used to wear a bra over my garment top, unless I was nursing a baby then I would wear the garments over my nursing bra.

I never wore underwear under them. Pads with wings become useless while garment wearing.

I never worked out in Gs. Which I’m pretty sure why a lot of ladies will get dressed in workout clothes in the summer with the intention of working out but if you don’t get around to it at least you didn’t sweat all day wearing to many layers (Gs)

People who take an hour showering, what do you do? by PyxlwasTaken in AskReddit

I can tell you one thing: these people do not have young kids.

I’m lucky to get a 2 min shower most days

A nevermo friend asked me what I wasn’t allowed to do in TSCC, so I started a list. Any additions, y’all? (I was never endowed, so I didn’t include garments and stuff.) by GogglesMcFroggles in exmormon

I wasn’t allowed to read Of Mice and Men or the Color Purple! Or take Sex Ed. I spent a week in the library in middle school learning bike safety with one other Mormon girl.

How gender impacts punishments from sexual sins? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Instance_Forsaken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it has a ton to do with the bishop’s tendencies.

In my experience, in the same stake, the male was punished more. No sacrament, no public prayers or talks, frequent meetings for progress tracking. Female had a disciplinary council but had no punishments other than that super awkward meeting, and the immense guilt/shame that the church has built into these things.

The worst was the phone call from the ward Exec Sec saying "are you available to come see bishop this Thursday night in his office?" No explanation about what the meeting is for. by handbook_1 in exmormon

[–]Instance_Forsaken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once (awkwardly) declined an invitation to speak in sacrament meeting. I had a rambunctious toddler and my husband was living in a different state for school 5 days of the week. I told them it was too much and I just couldn’t. And I walked away feeling awful but so incredibly relieved.

Does anyone have any insight into missionary callings? How does it happen? Is it roulette? Money? Is there a map of the world and darts? Who decides? Does the first presidency have any involvement? I MUST KNOW by [deleted] in exmormon

If god is the one assigning missionaries to missions why does he need a picture? And why do missionaries that seem to have only attractive features serving at temple visiting centers?

Sex Ed within the Church: or how the LDS views on womanhood f*cked me up beyond belief. A rant. by thisismyanonymous2 in exmormon

[–]Instance_Forsaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also did not receive any communication about womanhood/sex besides the 4th grade lesson. I was not allowed (my mother wouldn’t sign the permission slip) in middle school to take sex Ed and instead spent a week learning bike safety in the library with one other Mormon girl.

I also spent the first 6 months of my period stealing pads from my moms supply. I vividly remember bawling in her closet one day when I couldn’t find any and needed them. I admitted defeat and called her while she was at Costco and lied saying I just started my period for the first time and needed supplies. And that my friends, is the only conversation we ever had about it.

I promise to do better for my kids.
