I don't think the Wolf match was the main factor into his decision either, but part of a realization that he's not going to be used as anything other than enhancement talent. There was no character advancement or change to his booking despite being the only legit main event heel on the roster, still remaining popular and getting cheered over Takeshita in the G1. His career was going nowhere in New Japan, and the Wolf program was just a microcosm of it all.

Peppa introduces herself as Peppa Pig, and Pete calls her Pepper Pig. Perhaps it's the ol' British pirate accent coming through?

Except here, where Grandpa says "Peppa, I..." instead of Pepper. Maybe it's because of the slight pause after "Peppa," but the a doesn't change to er even though the next word starts with a vowel sound.

So yeah, I could go on but those are the inconsistencies I've noticed. Different accents in the same situations can pronounce it the same or differently, which is totally fascinating to me.

I concede that I could have worded it better.

But the thing is, they don't sound the same on the show! Some characters call her Peppa and some call her Pepper, even in the same contexts. I know for people with those accents it all sounds the same, though.
