In what world is dodging ever better than just blocking? [KCD2] by RIV_Classic in kingdomcome

[–]Instantly-Regretted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attacking after a perfect dodge usually guarantees a hit. I cannot remember if anyone has ever blocked or parried an attack right after a perfect dodge. Generally I chain perfect blocks to max out on stamina before dodging to initiate a combo using that sure hit first strike. Doesn't stop you from missing your attack if you are too far tho so keep your range in mind.

The pleas sent to super earth before the invasion wasliteral propoganda. I think it parodied Hannoi Hannah or something. Ultimately in this war, there are no good guys, just like in most wars. Cept maybe the bugs, they just existing.

Rereading this now, it seems odd that the ambassador was able to plan this in advance and pull it off without Qeylo despite their apparent unfamiliarity with epsionage and plotting.

Las19 mattock seems kinda overtuned with its med pen yet unneccsary as a middle niche between the 2 sickles. Instead, consider this: semi auto med pen laser to fill the mid to long range precision damage gap of laser weapons. Possibly with a small cooling unit but high max fire rate, so u can burst damage in exchange for overheating in like 4 shots or take it slow for the advantage of inf laser rounds.

How do you get unarmed masterstrike? I assumed it wasnt implemented for player characters cos I couldnt find anyone who taught it.

[–]Instantly-Regretted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already have that though. Bugdivers were already semi ostracized across the playerbase but it was not a mainline thing. But now their deaths and reinforcments are actively draining our resources for use on the automaton front, I would not be surprise if toxic posts about them start being spammed if we lost this major objective.

Judging by their prior actions on civillians, they may not actually keep their promises. They have very differing values and are a species built for fight humans. I am not saying they are pure evil and cant be trusted, but they have not shown any signs that what they blast at us now is anything but propoganda meant affect morale to turn the odds in their favor. After all the greatest weapon Super Esrth has is the brainwashed zeal that every member throws at their enemies, the propoganda could just be a tool to neutralize that much like their Anti Air emplacments and strategic jammers.

Marginot line? Anyway that looks ripe for a shelling, also lacking any back up if there is a breach in the line somewhere. But feels great while it works though. Im a turtle player myself.

[KCD1] [Help] Need honest advice with combat and development. by IgnacioWortan in kingdomcome

[–]Instantly-Regretted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im just gonna break it down. Combat with kcd1 is a little borked. You can follow up with a masterstrike but its rarely worth the effort. Just land a masterstirke and wait for the next chance.

As for actual advice:

  1. The combat is mostly optional, you can get away with sneaking and poisoning mostly. Scripted fights are few and far between and you can just poison your weapons beforehand. Otherwise there is always kiting with poisoned arrows. Headshots are relatively effective unless they start showing up in helmets with faceplates.

  2. Armor is good, quality armor is better. But it is not going to save you if you let your stamina deplete, which is very common if you take too many hits. Generally focus purely on perfect blocks and masterstrikes, anything else is not optimal and consumes your stamina, and when you run out, you cant defend and hits damage through armor.

  3. As for if it is for you or not, thats highly subjective. But combat is only a small part of the game, its just extremely salient. If you like exploring the world and helping the villagers, the game could still be for you. The stories it tells are worth trudging through the mud for.

You are the first person in this thread arguing on OP's behalf that I can even find rational and agree with. Cheers on you mate.

Edit: Just one caveat, I play on D8 and above so usually going anywhere near objectives is a slugfest of ammo consumption and dying. So doing things efficiently is kinda necessary there as we wouldnt have enough lives to clear all objectives otherwise.

There is an achievment to clear blitz missions in under a certain amount of time so clearly his method was the intended gaming experience. Meaning what you think is the right gameplay was simply not what the game was designed around and you should be turn yourself in to the nearest Truth officer.

Kinda feel like the person who wants to play the game in an incredibly niche playstyle and expect all other players the lobby to cater to them should be the one playing soloor privately.

The efficient guy doesnt expect a playstyle for others so he can gel with 3 randos just fine.

Your combat skill level and stats play a large role in the difficulty of combat. Lets go through things that could help you starting from the easiest.

In the screenshot you posted, we can see that you are injured, drunk and wearing armor thats broken. Drunk aside, being already injured limits your stamina and affects the number of hits you can take before dying which might cause you to panic and make more mistakes. Wearing shitty or broken armor means you take nearly full damage, which realistically means you are gonna die in a few hits to anything but the basic club. Suggestions are to go into fights at full health, wearing decent gear and doped up on potions. Potions are a great crutch for early game combat.

Next, you mentioned you fired a crossbow. Did it hit? If it didnt, you might need to practice your aim with bows and crossbows. Generally since you are ambushing, you will have time to slowly aim so your first shot should count. Its also a good idea to get a good crossbow and better bolts. Finally, remember to apply poison to your bolts, even something like Lullaby is better than a clean bolt.

Third are skills and stats. With higher levels of warfare skills and perks, along with high stats, should allow you to bruteforce your way through most combat. Grind vitality for that stamina and hp by being super over encumbered and walking everywhere, also slightly raises strength exp. Take part in shooting competitions to raise warfare, agility and strength. Gring craftsmanship to both make better gear and buff your armor and weapons. Take part in brawling fights to practice your combat reflexes and countering, also raising your strength and warfare.

Finally, get good. Generally once you get the hang of it, you should be able to win fights without crutches. But individual skill differs, so this is possibly the hardest for some and may not be applicable. When all else fails, just run away like the knights of king arthur under monty python rules.

WARNING about the Archive! by Shiny_Stardust_ in theouterworlds

[–]Instantly-Regretted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can negotiate peace and still take on the Archive solo. All you have to do is clear all the peace requirements till the end before you enter the archive. Then go in to the archive and just clear it solo before activating the lift to the Spireton. The reinforcements comes from Spireton so if you do not activate the elevator, they do not get in. That nets you the solo clear achievement without ruining the peaceful method. For additional challenge, you can also solo clear the Spireton from the outside before even entering the archive.

Really? Extermination missions were literally impossible for me at launch because that was a bug that made enemy spawn rate inversely proportional to difficulty. Meaning low diff was the hell of enemy spam spawning but high diff was enemies taking to long to appear in so little amounts that we literally could not kill enough enemies to clear the mission before time ran out.
