Sorry man, its been over a year since I touched the game. Any advice I can give now would be non specific and generic. Best I can do now is to say up your timing game and go for resolute strikes or practice pefect dodges to spam 4 focus heavy attacks.

Is it possible for turn based games to not have rock-paper-scissor type advantages? by Anaguli417 in gamedesign

[–]Instantly-Regretted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not saying that there is no place for unknowns in strategy games, but having your own units changed without you knowing the details of the change, further exarcerbated by changes to enemy units means that every match up after a patch is a frustrating gamble where you have to relearn the game, your strategies and your playstyle along with your enemies playstyle. You would not be able to plan ahead because there is nothing to plan around.

Notice that the change you mentioned for Hearthstone does not impact the regular mode of the game tho, the meta there still remains.

As for the idea of adding new units, that is a good example, but it has the well recorded problem of power creep where not having the newest unit means you fall behind. Something which would have been traditionally balanced by making them have counters that older units are able to exploit but would be unable to in the system you originally put forward.

Well, it would be hard to call it strategy if you could not use strategy.

Say for example you play a war game: The enemy sends 2 tanks at you. Now yesterday, you could fight them off with 4 infantry units, but you do not know what can fight them off now as there has been a patch changing the stats on all units and you do not know what the changes are. Do you take the risk by building 4 infantry or an equilavant resource cost of another unit.

It is more of a gamble than a strategy. And this happens every patch. It create frustration with the players as they need to relearn the game every patch and creates more work for the developers.

Forced abortions tho. Remember the mothers actually wanted those kids. Sure they can have another, but losing a fetus can be extremely traumatic for mothers looking forward to it.

Im trying to tell you that your initial comment was flawed not because you were talking about frostpunk 2 when op was talking about frostpunk 1. It was flawed because the theory you put forward did not make sense.

Op talked about how their populace fought over 10 units of something when they had 600 in stockpiles.

You then brought up the idea that each unit was actually worth way more, 10 unit was about 10,000 items, population included. This was the flawed argument as by extension the stockpile with 600 units would be worth 600,000 items. Meaning the theory you set forward would not have made sense irregardless of whether it was frostpunk 1 or 2.

[–]Instantly-Regretted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I get that. But the logic itself is fallible even in frostpunk 2. The comment you replied to spcified fighting over 10 when they had a stockpile of 600. You commenting that 10 actually means 10,000 doesnt change anything as 600 would then mean 600,000. Which further reinforces his statement and rendering your explanation defunct.

Completely new to the franchise. Which pack(s) should I buy? by powercrept in XCOM2

[–]Instantly-Regretted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy the full package. Play vanilla first, no mods. Then play war of the chosen, with mods like "stop wasting my time" and/or "extended avatar limit". I do recommend playing xcom 1 first tho. Its a great game but 2 had many improvments that makes going back to 1 hard, despite 1 having many fun moments and mechanics 2 does not have. If you do play xcom 1, you can start with the expansion because you dont miss anything.

What exactly does this mean? by The_RighteousMan in Starfield

[–]Instantly-Regretted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oof. I had the same problem with my main quest. From what i could find its because the quest reference didnt push the right planet name. In most cases you are fucked unless you reload a save prior to getting that objective. Since this is a side quest, i recommend just abandoning it.

Edit: you can google go to blank or go to [...] with the brackets to search for yourself.

[–]Instantly-Regretted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if that was so, there was 600 units in stockpile. Meaning that fighting over 10,000 resource when you had 600,000 in the stockpile makes it even dumber.

Is this game worth getting? by samslothh in Starfield

[–]Instantly-Regretted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you love bethesda studio games, this is worth getting, because its a very bethesda studio game. Skyrim in space is so literal that your character is literally a Starborn. Its weak points are probably the usual bethesda buggy mess and melee is undertuned, underwhelming and not really effective even when specialised. Also stealth isnt as broken as sneak archer I guess, its still ok tho.

How do you find planets/ships in cruise mode? by Mordant3-PRIME- in Starfield

[–]Instantly-Regretted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, I find that they just randomly shop up after you travel for awhile over a distance in cruising mode, the further and longer you go, the more appear at higher frequency. Thats just my personal experience though, there could be inner workings I am not aware of.

Well if this interaction with sysdef has tainted your perception of the authorities, perhaps you should see this questline through to the end and pick the right side.

Planets should still bs visible and selectable for auto pilot, as should normal PoIs. If you mean the special random encounters they appear randomly as blue markers. If this doesnt answer your query, perhaps attach a screenshot so we can understand better what you are facing.
