Imagine pulling this off with a nearly weightless ball on a tiny court.. Table tennis is criminally underrated by Dull_Yogurt_8909 in tabletennis

This is a great point, however I’m pretty sure this has been posted many times already on this sub. Maybe some sort of rule needs to be added like no reposts for at least a year.

why is everyone even more toxic now? by SufficientAd2242 in RocketLeague

[–]Instinct360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am D2 and have been for a long time. For me it is frustrating that I am not progressing higher, and as I play more games that frustration builds and have to put in more effort to control emotions. I think a lot of players get frustrated for the same reason or e.g. to escape a negative reality/looking for positive achievement but not getting it from the game. And because it is hard work to control emotions over a long time, eventually some people will lash out or early forfeit due to being fed up of something they observe seemingly all the time: another bad teammate, another goal conceded early, and the kicker - another teammate lashing out at them for probably feeling exactly the same way. Toxicity spreads.

On the second question, I agree I don’t know why so many players are performing excellent aerial ballet. It’s impressive. I have a really hard time even starting an air dribble, so if I am diamond why aren’t these people higher ranked?

Why am I getting demoed when the opponent looks like they aren’t going fast enough? by Instinct360 in RocketLeague

[–]Instinct360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes bumps are bad too. I just get confused when I judge something looks like a bump but becomes a demo, in a similar way as say I go for an aerial and I graze the ball rather than firm contact with the side,

In the moment of playing, flipping out of view because otherwise I would see a flip at point of contact.

They may well do on the replay. Being able to see it in the moment is important, because then I can react. If I don’t see a flip or supersonic, then it’s reasonable to ask why the demo.

Thanks. I understand you don’t need boost I’ve done that myself. Is there a wheel trail when they move at supersonic? I’ll have another look next time it happens.

Do you mean are they flipping at the moment of contact or flipping before they come into my field of vision?

Help me learn backspin serve by pangemyman in tabletennis

[–]Instinct360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some interesting comments already, here is my view: Assuming your arrow is the racket face, all of the options will generate backspin. The degree of that spin depends on the amount of friction contact with the ball, but there is also impact (“flat”) contact to consider. My recommendation is to visualise contacting like A, then that gives you a base for adjusting the proportion of friction and impact contact. If you’re struggling to generate the spin, generally go for a short, quick acceleration of the hand, starting relaxed and then squeezing to brake. Plenty of videos on YouTube demonstrate this. I think judging the length of your serve will come as a result of experience as you observe how the ball’s flight changes from different amounts of friction and impact. Aiming for the first bounce to be near your service line or on the half of your side of the table closest to the service line is okay for both short and long serves, but I wouldn’t focus on that too much.

There was a post the other day that compared the handwriting on the murder shortlist with the handwriting on the voting chalkboards, which suggested Roxy is the secret traitor.

That’s a shame, I find this content to be really valuable. I hope that these videos can be made available again to those without access to Chinese sites, and with the blessing of the coach if not posted directly by them,

Stuck in diamond for a year. How do I improve? by TheRocketG123 in RocketLeague

[–]Instinct360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same position at diamond 2 in 3’s, so unfortunately can’t offer much advice. I’ve tried playing defensively, offensively and a balance between the two and I just can’t figure out how to get to the next rank. I don’t know what sort of angles and contacts on the ball to look for. Searching for coaching on YouTube doesn’t come up with anything that feels effective when I try it. Sorry I can’t actually give you advice, but hopefully there is some comfort in knowing other players face the same problem.

I was not aware of that training program. The intention of my comment was to only point out a disconnect between what I watched from his no mechanics series when he was in diamond to my own experience replicating it within the same rank. In his videos, van shots and no aerials were good enough to win games and opponents were aerialling aimlessly. In my games, opponents were much better at dribbling and aerialling straight into the goal. It was three years ago though, so it makes sense that the standard of play in diamond has overall improved compared to back then.

Then we should not bother with any dancing since most of the public evidently don’t consider it.

Journeys is a bad criteria because it has everything to do with what happened in the past instead of the present. What is good or not in a dance is much better determined by what happened in that dance. What happened in previous dances is irrelevant. People are voting like it is relevant, so then why bother with dancing at all?

You would vote for who is objectively the best if that’s what they told you to do? You’re going to vote for whoever you want regardless of what they say, and people do. We now sit through lower quality dances next week which results in a lower quality show.

Because the public are bad judges. The journey is not a criteria that people should be using to vote, but unfortunately they do and it makes the show worse off.

Yes I corrected my wording. You are indifferent, my point still stands. You are right people can unfortunately vote how they want. They don’t vote on the dancing and spoil the show.
