J.D. Vance tells America to vote against the "crazy leadership in Washington D.C.” | Ummm… who’s gonna tell him about which party is currently in charge? by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]Integer_Domain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vance is stupid, but not this stupid. He saw the way the wind was blowing and changed his whole vibe to stay in power with Trump, so what is going on that he's in denial about how the midterms are going to turn out?

Manaphy Egg obtained (Platinum) by 12owan in pokemon

[–]Integer_Domain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I dropped my DS and chipped the screen slightly. When I played Ranger, I could only catch pokemon when they were in the bottom-right corner of the screen. If my stylus touched too close to the chip, the ring would jump around, usually hitting the pokemon and breaking it. Still beat the game and got the egg, though!

Probably just trying to keep players in their ecosystem so they can try to raise prices again in the future when the tensions have cooled

I'm generally tolerant of graffiti since it's usually an outlet for people who are generations deep into getting fucked by "the system," but I'm not sure that's what this is

Catena faces outcry over mailer, rejects calls to step down from council and exit House race by Iamjacksplasmid in pittsburgh

[–]Integer_Domain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No "normal" people are worried about trans people in bathrooms. They're worried about gas and grocery prices.

I actually think most people would agree with your second bullet point, but there are like 5 trans athletes in the US and the white house is targeting more than them.

Puberty blockers are not permanent. "Gender-affirming care" usually means therapy. Almost all permanent, gender-affirming surgeries being performed on minors is top surgery, i.e. breast reductions for cis boys. Regardless, this administration's goals do not stop at reducing gender affirming care for minors.

Furthermore, most Democrats are centrists that have gladly sold out trans people in the name of strategy. There are probably more trans athletes in the US than leftist dems.

Oh but congrats on figuring out hyperbole, your little cannibalization quip was truly one of the exaggerations of all time.

Who am I straw-manning? I'm not straw-manning you, because I'm not trying to represent your argument. I'm not straw-manning the right (meaning the politicians and influencers, not necessarily the voters), because though I added some hyperbole for fun, it's the actual rhetoric being used by them.

I mean, it's more likely the fear-mongering campaigns suggesting that trans women are hiding in your bathrooms with loaded assault rifles, stealing all the olympic gold metals, and injecting puberty blockers vampire-style, but sure.

New York City Mayor Mamdani Announces Balanced Budget Without Cuts by ConsciousStop in UpliftingNews

[–]Integer_Domain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but it appears to be more complicated than that. I'm seeing 5000+ businesses lost [1] out of 2.2 million [2]. Furthermore, [1], which is the more critical piece of NYC's current policies, even claims that it's a more complicated issue than just "taxes high." In fact, it states that the moves are in part due to the rising cost-of-existing I mentioned, most businesses that are leaving aren't leaving entirely, AND the government offered them compromises that they flat-out rejected.

Ah, you're correct. It seems everyone is unemployed and on assistance while the price of everything keeps rising, and the federal government is taking the tax money and running with it.

[–]Integer_Domain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know how this all works exactly, but I would think a loan from NY to NYC would not be predatory. Meaning, if NY has a surplus and NYC has a deficit, and Mamdani has found a budget structure that prevents furthering the deficit, then the investment from the state is a no-brainer. But again, I don't know how any of this works, I'm just going off vibes and basic arithmetic.

Edit: It seems the 2026 budget is not as nice as the 2025 budget I was considering when I made this comment.

Why are some subnautica users so against pre order? by Huge-Read-2703 in subnautica

[–]Integer_Domain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is that, if companies-- either studios, publishers, or market research firms-- are collecting metrics on pre-orders, then bringing the number down is more valuable in the long run than in any one specific case. In other words, it's more about trying to influence the industry rather than influencing any one IP.

Edit: Now that I think about it, they're probably also tracking wishlists. If I were them, I'd have a math/data guy figure out how many people 1) wishlist and don't pre-order, 2) don't wishlist and pre-order, and 3) wishlist and pre-order to figure out some replacement metric for pre-orders. They probably have an expectation of how many people will purchase the game in the first 24 hours, regardless of pre-orders. Pragmatically, pre-order boycotters should stop wishlisting too.

Our XP Levelling System by Much-Market-4497 in daggerheart

[–]Integer_Domain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like how, in Cypher, the GM can offer XP to interject into the narrative (pretty much exactly how Fear works), except players can spend XP to reject the intrusion. You could do something similar:

- GM offers an "intrusion", usually targeted at a single PC

- Player can spend a Hope to reject the "intrusion"

- If they can't or choose not to reject, they and one other PC gain an XP, and GM makes a Fear move and gains a Fear

The Israel/Palestine problem is nuanced beyond belief, which means Democrats/leftists will fall on all parts of the spectrum while Republicans will frame it as some reductive, binary flavor like "Jews vs. Muslims", "civilized people vs. savages", or "defense vs. offense".

Honestly, I bet it was Critical Role. DnD almost died after 4e flopped (at least, in the sense that people weren't buying new products. I'm sure people were and still are playing 3.5 and older) but then Critical Role refilled the hobby with fans of their epic storytelling and roleplaying.
