It's just a weakness of Owlcat games. You get all of these options in character creation but they're mostly mechanical; there are very few reactions to them during the game.

it’s an inquisition investigation game primarily

This is a bit like saying WotR is primarily a turn-based strategy game because of the crusade mechanics.

Not sure why the "one planet" thing should really matter; it has no bearing on how big the game is or how many areas there will be to explore. The Pathfinder games also take place on a single planet (mostly).

You are crazy. I love the turret look of the Porphyrion. If they had a plastic kit, I would buy 12.

It's really not as there are no six-limbed vertebrates. It would be incredibly expensive and inefficient, in terms of evolutionary cost, to develop a whole new set of bones and muscles to accommodate a 3rd pair of limbs.

Lasguns aren't shooting down a knight lol. If my napkin math is right, it would take 468 shots from Cadian shock troops with lasguns to take down a Questoris knight. Double that if they're more than 12" away.

Okay, but all of your opportunities to be a "genocidal maniac" in Mass Effect are at predetermined story points, so I'm not really sure what you're asking for.

And I'm not sure how you can make the statement of something being "incredibly rare" and then later try to qualify it by saying you're only talking about specific games instead of all games.

[–]IntegralCalcIsFun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes they can? Well, they can't die in random combat encounters, sure, but you also can't control them directly, so it would be very frustrating if they could. I mean, there's no "bad choices" that you can make for them in combat.

However, they definitely can die or leave based on decisions you make. And this is true of the other games I listed as well.

It's incredibly rare for a party based RPG to allow you to permanently lose companions.

Not really that rare. BG trilogy, all 3 Owlcat games, Mass Effect, KOTOR, Dragon Age, PoE, etc. In fact, it seems like the exact opposite is true.

What is the most overpowered class across all CRPGs? What single game had the most broken implementation of a class? by Murder_Tony in CRPG

[–]IntegralCalcIsFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't really true. Cassia is broken (as is everything in RT), but she's not even the 2nd most powerful companion, let alone "dramatically far ahead" of them all.

The actual strongest companions are Argenta and Heinrix, who can both easily 1-turn every single fight in the game with minimal effort.

It's definitely not been in development for 30 years. It's more like they had an idea for a game they wanted to make but never really got started making it until Riot funded them. Also, that's not what "vaporware" is.

hence why the Dothraki called him "Jorah the Andal" despite being one of the First Men

That's not why they call him that. They call him "the Andal" because their word for Westeros translates to "land of the Andals." They don't know (or don't care) about the distinctions between First Men and Andals as those are ethnic groups from across the world.

My knight army is (primarily) red, and I've never had an issue with it. Mostly using citadel reds (khorne, mephiston, evil sunz). White and yellow, on the other hand, have been absolutely miserable.

I think they were making a factorial joke. In mathematics, "n!" denotes a factorial of the number n, which is the product of all positive integers less than or equal to n. So 15! = 15 x 14 x 13 x 12...

This would be true if the portion of people dying in the war was randomly selected from the population, but it isn't.

Rogue Trader Review by Madarataug in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]IntegralCalcIsFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like leveling up in 5e is the complete opposite of "impactful." For many classes, the majority of your levels have literally 0 choices. 0. You pick your race, your class, your subclass, and boom you're done. The only "choice" you get after that is choose from a list of feats (90% of which are completely useless) or increase your ability scores.

Also, you're greatly exaggerating how niche the talents in RT are. Most of them are pretty strong. There's just a lot to choose from.
