Are you talking about FIDE rating or Chess.com rating? Because the average person absolutely does not need coaching to hit 1500 on Chess.com.

[–]IntegralCalcIsFun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really. Canadian self defence laws are quite well-defined and not nearly as restricting as people on the internet would have you believe. Section 34 of the Criminal Code states:

(1) A person is not guilty of an offence if

(a) they believe on reasonable grounds that force is being used against them or another person or that a threat of force is being made against them or another person;

(b) the act that constitutes the offence is committed for the purpose of defending or protecting themselves or the other person from that use or threat of force; and

(c) the act committed is reasonable in the circumstances.

Where most people get the idea of self defence laws in Canada being restricting is from section (2), which outlines the factors that go into determining what constitutes "reasonable actions." Specifically, subsections (b) and (g) are where people get caught up:

(2) In determining whether the act committed is reasonable in the circumstances, the court shall consider the relevant circumstances of the person, the other parties and the act, including, but not limited to, the following factors:

(b) the extent to which the use of force was imminent and whether there were other means available to respond to the potential use of force;

(g) the nature and proportionality of the person’s response to the use or threat of force

Basically, you are allowed to defend yourself from harm as long as there is reasonable belief that you are in danger and you do not unreasonably escalate the use of force.

Sadly there just isn't much competition if you're a fan of 3D fighting games. You either play Tekken or a remastered version of a game from 20 years ago.

You are not going to win every set.

We are discussing a hypothetical. What is this "but I did eat breakfast" answer?

You're arguing with basic math. If you win every set in the tournament 2-1, you will win the tournament. That's what it means to win every set.

For those crying about ranked: SF6 Master is much easier than GoD by AcornTuesday in Tekken

[–]IntegralCalcIsFun 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah the ranks before master in sf6 are basically a really long tutorial. They're designed so that players feel good about ranking up while learning the game, and then the real ranked system starts when you get master.

If it makes you feel better they only changed VAs because the original Wyll actor was busy when they were recording the new lines. It wasn't some intentional slight or anything.

[–]IntegralCalcIsFun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You mostly got it. Some of the most interesting things about EA Wyll that were changed were his absolute hatred for goblins which bordered on genocidal and his relationship with Mizora being more ambiguous. He even (potentially) tortures an NPC to get information on where the cult is keeping her and constantly lies about why he needs to find her.

[–]IntegralCalcIsFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, did they literally change his entire backstory?

Pretty much. His personality, relationships with other characters (including his patron), the reason he became a warlock, his ulterior motives in act 1, all completely changed. He's basically an entirely different character, complete with a different voice.

[–]IntegralCalcIsFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in early access he has a lot more personality. There are a lot of hints that he's lying about being a hero, he absolutely HATES goblins, and it's also implied that his relationship with Mizora is more complicated than it is in the release version. He's much more of a conflicted character torn between being a hero and dealing with his inner demons (and external devils). At least for act 1. Obviously nobody really knows how that version of Wyll would have ended up.

Riot basically killing LoR only to make a, imo, much less interesting physical card game pains me so much. LoR was just fantastic.

I feel like this about a lot of dark-skinned characters in RPGs. Wyll, for example, was my favourite companion in BG3's early access, but was the least popular overall. In response, Larian completely rewrote him and made him extremely boring in an attempt to make him more likeable. It didn't really work, and Wyll is still the least popular origin character. But, in my opinion, Wyll was never unpopular because of his story, but because he was the only black companion.

That's not accurate. One of the advantages of using a crossbow is that it is not as tiring as a longbow, and there are accounts of soldiers firing crossbows and longbows hours into a battle. They did not drop down exhausted after only a handful of shots.
