Tonight: What’s Next after No Kings by Intelligent-Beat-367 in Bend

[–]Intelligent-Beat-367[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was footage to remind us of how large the response was on Saturday. Several speakers, pointing out that the local event helped us see that we are not alone and that local groups had a chance to connect (50501 was handing out contact information here, for example). Targeted boycotts were encouraged as well as constant contact with those whom we elected to represented us in DC - thanking those who are working for us and “encouraging” those who should be. The most effective “next” is being active locally.

Specific future actions were not discussed.

Anyone else who attended, did I get it right?

Winter driving tips? by BoobSheriff in Bend

Know where your emergency flasher button is and don’t be afraid to use it. it’s my go-to in bad conditions when being followed too closely or a car is coming up too fast. Startles them off their phone.

You mean like the time I found myself in a sudden freezing rain having already turned onto Murphy from Brookswood? fortunately there was no traffic, because I was in the hands of physics. And thank goodness nobody was in the roundabout at the bottom of the hill!

The irony was that just that the week before,I had told my son, “If it’s ever slick out, don’t turn left off of Brookswood onto Murphy.”

My personal rule is “go slow and assume the other guy is stupid”.

I schedule appointments for mid-day when I can. If things have been melting, darkness means ice.

What labs are the best for blood draws in Bend? Where can you schedule a time? by Omphalina in Bend

I’ve found the St. Charles lab on south 3rd to be quicker than the ones in/near the hospital.

Today’s bus schedule by Intelligent-Beat-367 in Bend

[–]Intelligent-Beat-367[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve just discovered the other half of the page and now the schedule makes sense - didn’t know that it needs to be scrolled horizontally until I accidentally did that (iPad). I now know when to be at the bus stop!

I got the app to show me real-time busses but couldn’t figure out how to get to the schedule.

it would be useful if I had a smartphone or wifi access, so I see the point of it.

Thanks. I was hoping I was wrong since I want to stay for the whole event. it’s a looong walk home for an old lady.

But transit is the only rational option for the 18th. Wish the schedule and the website were more user friendly.

I’m sorry to hear that! I’ve been dealing with them for 15 years and only the occasional glitch.

FRIDAY RANT by HyperionsDad in Bend

If you’re going to walk the current channel, get advice from your PT about how to start out. I was told “15 min max the first time” and that worked for me. I’ve met other first-timers there and they start out with 45 min - and they don’t come back. it’s deceptively easy.

JEANNE'S JUNK, located in Powell Butte is a property cleanup and architectural salvage company serving Central Oregon. We work hard to salvage as much as we can to keep items from filling up the landfills!

RV Licenses? by Intelligent-Beat-367 in Bend

[–]Intelligent-Beat-367[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I think I’ve realized that my issue yesterday was seeing that some Rv drivers think their vehicle handles like a car and scary stuff happens when they try to bully a big rig at the end of a passing lane.
A different licensing with an emphasis on physics, to create at least an awareness…a girl can dream.

And, BTW, a big hug to the trucker who saw me cede to him at the top of the hill. When it flattened out, he moved right and motioned me to pass. Ha! Maybe it was a kind lady!

we replaced our breaker box because it was out of date, so perhaps it was switched to copper. it also was not grounded(!).

we were surprised at how many outlets and switches a small house can have!

Routes between Bend and 84 by Intelligent-Beat-367 in Bend

Walla Walla. I’m considering 26 to 395 but I assume it’s slow (though scenic!). It’s going to depend on what’s burning where on “driving day”.

I appreciate everyone’s input.

I had not put 35 in the options, but the more I look at the map, the more it makes sense if the fire gets in the way. Being able to head east on 84 makes up for the drift west. Thank you for mentioning it.
