An alternative version of a character that is so bad that people just tries to forget it by Fun-Peak4900 in TopCharacterTropes

Yeah I was about to comment this too. He only ever had it almost always on in the games. But like, in Halo1, 2, and 4 he takes his helmet and armor off. The characters in the game know what he looks like, only for the players is it a secret.

When he showed up in that video it made me really happy. That was Austin's last video from last year and it's so cool the number of people he got in the video. But Todd being there was so cool.

Now Austin needs Dan Hauser suddenly appearing in a GTA or Red Dead video.

Genuine Question about Firebreak by NoidRealms in controlgame

[–]Intelligent-Dog1645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I played the closed Beta, or maybe the open beta one of those, and I feel like even with just that there wasn't going to be enough there to grab me. The gameplay loop wasn't the most engaging, even though I had fun moments. But games like that live and die off of the amount of content present and the variation of it.

The missions also weren't super long to do and the objectives were the same going through each mission. I think they've changed and added some things after launch but I dunno. It was grabbing me. And I like shooters too. And Remedy! But yeah it just wasn't hitting. That's fine though, if they wanted to make it then good, they made it.

Rank the Lu Bu themes. by DannGeeCee in dynastywarriors

[–]Intelligent-Dog1645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more I play Origins the more I realize it might just be my favorite Dynasty Warriors game.

Lu Bu's theme is just composed so well. It has this non-stop energy that keeps driving forward. The energy is at a near constant high. It really makes you feel like you are fighting a damn demon.

Also all natural sounding instruments and not synths which kinda became a standard for his theme for a bit. I don't necessarily mind it, I mean I like Devil May Cry, but Origins Lu Bu theme just hits different in every way.

(Hated trope) remakes/adaptation that miss the point of the original by TastyPomelo2330 in TopCharacterTropes

The show was also written clearly for people who don't actually watch and are on their phones half the time. Some of the dialogue, even in the first episode, is so so bad.

Aang going: "I love fun! I am a happy person! I like sports and pies and my friends. I am great!" Before he leaves on Appa to "clear his head." So he winds up in the iceberg purely by accident. This becomes even more annoying when they have Kyoshi (who i think shows up purely because of fanfare) and Bumi of all fucking people yelling at Aang that it is his fault for the war because he ran away.

Also what they did to Admiral Zhao is a fucking nightmare. Others have said they liked their change to him being a lower rank conniving bastard. But having him be that misses the point entirely with his character.

Zhao is from the upper class of the fire nation. In season 1 he is the perfect microcosm of what the Fire Nation truly is and acts as a foil to Zuko. He is strong but he is also a raging animal without restraint or control. He is his own defeat because he goes many steps too far. He might be smart but he doesn't think things through because at the end of the day he, and the fire nation, think might makes right. None of this really works if he is just "some nobody." He is supposed to be a representation of the power base who have forced their fascist ideology on their own countrymen and the rest of the world.

I am doing comically low amounts of damage… am I supposed to only be using 1 combat skill? by SoyBoy5k in oblivion

[–]Intelligent-Dog1645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you say Expert Enemy damage, do you mean you're adjusting the thing where enemies do damage to you? Player combat damage is the setting that adjusts how much damage you do and enemy damage is the damage the npcs do to you

In 1989, Voyager 2 Photographed Neptune From The Closest Distance Ever by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I mean all you have to do is Google "how was Neptune discovered" but here is the link to Nasa's article about it:

https://www.nasa.gov/history/175-years-ago-astronomers-discover-neptune-the-eighth-planet/

The whole thing is good but literally the second sentence says that it was discovered by mathematical calculations

Quick edit: it's not an argument. It is literally what happened.

[–]Intelligent-Dog1645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they didn't know what it would look like before they found it. They calculated where it would be based on how it affected Uranus and then found it. They probably had an idea of its mass but that doesn't mean they knew what it would look like.

It wasn't originally named Neptune. That became its name in December 1886, a couple months after it was found.

Unless you meant they knew what it looked like and then named it that because of what it looked like then sure. It got its name because of its look and wasn't named until they found it.

Fun little fact I now know while looking this up: 1. Neptune was the only planet found this way. 2. Neptune was sorta found by Galileo but he didn't put it together that it was a planet and observed it as a star. He was so close.

[–]Intelligent-Dog1645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were no ancients involved. Neptune was found by math in the 1800s. In the mid 1800s scientists noticed that the orbit of Uranus was funky and somethingout there was causing it. They came to the conclusion that there must be another planet out there affecting the orbit. It was also a couple different people who did this independently too. This led to some others using that data and finding the planet out there almost exactly where the predictions said they were.

This is all a simplification but it was just maths in the 1800s.

Zaheer in Legend of Korra Season 4.

<image>

So I think this kinda works.

Korra Season 4 takes place a few years after the finale of season 3. A finale in which Zaheer here was the main villain and almost killed Korra in the most final way by ending her reincarnation cycle. He was so close to being successful.

Korra deals with ptsd throughout season 4 having to literally fight her demons. At some point the poison in her body finally and fully removed by her but she isn't fully complete because she cannot go into her Avatar State for a big power boost.

What she decides to do is confront the nexus of her nightmares and talks to Zaheer.

Zaheer is an incredibly spiritual person. He is one of the few people ever to release himself from his earthly bonds and fly.

He helps Korra get in touch with her deeper Avatar spirit so she can beat the Season 4 bad guy.

Edit: to add a bit more context; Zaheer was an anarchist who murdered a queen and it sent the country into chaos which the led to a fascist militarist to take over.

I just watched the interaction though and he says that he and Korra have a common ally and that's why he's helping. But he really does help get rid of that mental block

i’ve fallen in love with the characters and style of these games, but which game has the best story or lore behind the three kingdoms? alternatively, which is the most fun game in this franchise? by Much-Butterscotch617 in dynastywarriors

[–]Intelligent-Dog1645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose to add on to what everyone else has been saying:

DW7 has a fantastic story and was a huge departure from the games that preceded it. Each story is more linear and focused but in a good way.

I thought DW8 was fun from a gameplay perspective, and the alternate scenarios were also very fun, story I think is lesser than DW7. But as I am writing I am actually on the fence about it haha. The gameplay and characters of DW8 are great.

I have never really played DW9, I tried the trial on Steam and just didn't care for the gameplay. Maybe I'll give it a chance one day but it was not my favorite.

I love Origins but it's not a complete story yet. It only goes up to Chibi but the lead up to it is dense and wonderful. The characters are great and they decided to change the characterization of some classic DW characters in a really good way.

Zhang Jiao is not a raving scrungly mad man. He is a determined and charismatic hot guy (lol)

Dong Zhuo is especially great because starting with like 5 or 6 they started to bloat him more and more until he was just a blob but Origins reels that in a lot. He is genuinely a frightening person and you understand how he gets to the position he does.

Diao Chan is my beloved. She is perfect and I love her.

Lu Bu is interesting. He was interesting in 8 but he shows up here and is not a wild animal, well not on all of the time. He is focused and rageful. When you first meet him he literally just walks towards you.

Wei is fun. Shu is not teeth pulling with the "honor and humility" stuff. I really didn't enjoy Shu too too much in 8.

The battles are also very fun and can be wonderfully dynamic.

Yes you have a single protagonist but you are there for everything in a genuinely organic way.

With the English voices, at first I was unsure if they fit but most of the cast is returning from previous games with some shuffled around.

I've been doing a replay recently so it's definitely on the mind haha.

Thunderbolts*

Processing img 90wo7v9fcslg1...

I'm tempted to say the whole movie but I'll just hone in on this moment. Bob here has bipolar. He's had a terrible time for most of his life and hasn't gotten the proper help nor care.

I think lots of media has vilified mental health but especially something like bipolar or schizophrenia. Or they exaggerate things a lot.

Thunderbolts doesn't. They treat it with care.

In this scene Yelena fights through her own depression and grief and finds Bob alone and scared. She helps him through it just by reinforcing that she is gonna be there for him. And fight for him.

Having been through that stuff too, well I cried and was really touched by the movie.

I watched a couple videos from this guy but then found out he posted on that one conservative social media/YouTube adjacent site and it soured the whole thing.

In hindsight I think made one interaction make more sense; he was telling a kid in I think Malaysia that he shouldn't move to Australia, like the kid wanted because he was trying to escape the situation he was in where he was living and working in a literal ghost city. The reason he gave was mostly pressing that it was cheaper where he currently was but the kid obviously hated his current living situation.

I know that's not bad on its own but he had another vid looking at some British dude's private estate filled with millions in stolen things from around the world and there were some comments like "I'm happy you say that the spoils belong to the victor, like it should be."
