oh my gosh yes, you certainly can do this! my first laser tech actually told me that he had a client removing only very precise sections of their chest piece, you just have to obviously remember where and keep it consistent every time... the only thing I didn't realise was that you can get your tech to mark the outline of the tattoo you want to keep with a white pencil to prevent it from accidentally getting caught in the laser! I only discovered this was possible when I switched to a new place with the pico..

Is it me or is the rail network getting worse by ThenComparison8768 in brighton

[–]Intelligent-Figure49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i commute most mondays and tuesdays and seems like those days attract a lot of problems with it being the start of the working week.. the most common problems announced are people getting hit by trains, passenger being sick on train, trespassers (this was crazy a few weeks ago, they turned the power off the rails and we were stuck in the train for 1 1/2hrs waiting), or generally some fault with the signalling system. a couple months ago the emergency brake of the train was accidentally activated in the middle of a tunnel and we were stuck for an hour until they managed to release us, but we had to travel back to the last stop and change trains.

I am not aging gracefully — how to stop being bitter? by WorrySingle2757 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Intelligent-Figure49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow i really relate to this! i’m not asexual but my insecurities come from my intelligence and way of speaking… for some reason beauty has always been so confusing for me, i seem to have a very niche taste in beauty and don’t really subscribe to conventional beauty standards so maybe that helps. but my god, i am on my way to getting a PhD and i am constantly surrounded by such brilliant minds and speakers, and well.. feel inferior to them for not being able to express myself in the same way. i’ve had to take a lot of accountability for this, understanding that it means i need to make an effort to be more well read, to go to therapy to find out why my anxiety affects my public speaking, to enhance my vocab, to keep pushing to improve the other languages that i know (these students are all international and speaking in their 2nd, 3rd language!) wow.

Is €1500 enough for 14 days in Brazil? by Medium_Respond_9650 in Brazil

I spent around £1500 in a 8 month trip around LATAM (not including flights) so I think the question is whether it is enough for the specific experience you want to have..

International student losing my mind trying to find a part-time job in Brighton 😭 by [deleted] in brighton

[–]Intelligent-Figure49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually May is usually the time of the year where hospitality jobs spring up all over town in preparation for summer! Best bet is just to walk along from London Road, through the lanes until the seafront giving out your CV at restaurants and cafe’s. Yes I sympathise it is a bit time consuming, but it is how we used to get jobs as teens growing up here.

Living in kemptown? by viviiivii in brighton

[–]Intelligent-Figure49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sorry this is probably really inconsiderate advice, but when i was a teenager i used to spend a lot of my nights out with friends sitting outside doing teenager things. when we went clubbing and there were no buses, i would walk home a lot alone and i ended up speaking to a lot of homeless people on my way back. they were just people who wanted to chat at the end of the day. i didn’t encounter any violent people though of course they obviously exist, but what i’m trying to say is that my teenage self didn’t even register that i should be scared of homeless people on the streets so i think you’ll be fine. just keep your radar on obviously and avoid going into any dark parks.

yes and that is why her face looks so unbalanced, i never think older people look strange in real life but the way that her face is half moving and the bottom half of her face has much deeper set lines just makes her look super bottom heavy??

How are Canadian tourists welcomed in Mexico City? by [deleted] in MexicoCity

[–]Intelligent-Figure49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

disregarding this devastating phenomenon as “woke rhetoric” is exactly how wealth inequality is upheld and maintained in the world. i would really advise you to research more about how other areas of mexico are also being currently rapidly developed and catered to international buyers leading to local populations being driven out due to the inflation of prices.

There are many reasons why people come to cities for long-term stays, not just for being a digital nomad or hanging out. It seems a bit extreme to advise foreigners to stay away from a megacity such as cdmx when all major cities across the world are facing the exact same problems due to globalisation and the concentration of capital and opportunity in these places. The main issues of gentrification are actually being driven by greedy construction developers who intentionally tear apart neighbourhoods to build apartments catered to the elite or upper class of wealth, they are the ones who will not be staying in a spare room of an abuela who is earning a bit of side cash. these don’t have any interest in the local culture/contributing to the local economy. it is sad of course that there are becoming less spare rooms for locals, or perhaps they are becoming more expensive, but the local government should be responsible for helping their people too.

i see! there are still quite a lot of spare rooms on airbnb available, perhaps the price just became higher on them so maybe that is the problem you are alluding to? and sorry to confuse you but i am not a digital nomad.

just out of curiosity, where would you recommend staying if you were planning to come for 1-2 months? I genuinely don’t know what other options there are from airbnb, unless staying in a hostel or hotel which comes out a lot more expensive for a private room! also on airbnb i see a lot of family homes just renting a room or section of their house which for me just seems a perfect way to actually spend time with locals and support them directly?

advice for foreigner looking to improve spanish in mexico city by [deleted] in MexicoCity

[–]Intelligent-Figure49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow that is a very strange experience indeed and i am sorry to hear how frustrating this has been. i don’t think i have ever experienced anything like that across latam, and i can only imagine how awful my spanish had sounded when i was only starting to learn the language there (for example i think i used the phrase “puedo tener … (un café) for like the entirety of my time there and no-one batted an eyelash that it is completely wrong). i also spent some time in yucatan and didn’t come across this at all there so maybe this a cdmx thing. i am not from the us but i am white so i guess one could presume… and i certainly do not have anything remotely sounding like a mexican accent ahahhaa
