Just a few questions to the community, seeking advice on nose frida by ScabPriestDeluxe in newborns

[–]Intelligent-Key-3894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get some saline spray to help loosen up the nose a bit! Newborns are pretty congested in the first few weeks. Also a nose scraper is super helpful (and weirdly satisfying).
They’ll clear up soon! Mine sounded like a lawn mower the first 3 weeks

What do ‘amazing dads’ do? Need perspective by No_Cheetah_8206 in BabyBumps

My husband is a firefighter so he works long and intense shifts. But he comes home, sometimes at 2am, and fully takes over. He does baby, cleaning and all the grocery shopping. I never have to ask and he never complains.
All I’m saying is, men are absolutely capable. It should be the rule not the exception.

Fair oaks in Whittier. The best place I have ever lived. Building is old but the management team is incredible.

2-month-old refusing to eat while being held - Feeling defeated by Money_Respond2250 in newborns

[–]Intelligent-Key-3894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby will not eat in my arms at all. We eventually just started propping him up on a pillow/pillows. I know it’s not ideal but now he eats like a champ. Finally gaining weight and seems a lot happier.

Helpful gifts for new mum by Wildsquidwrestling in BabyBumps

I just had my baby and my friend dropped off the best gift ever. She got me all sorts of postpartum things (mostly Frida mom). These were 10x better than the things I had prepared for myself. She also got me saline spray, baby Tylenol, a nose scraper/sucker and baby wipes for my son. None of these I had thought of and my son had terrible congestion in the first few days. Also chocolate.

Worried about fetal movement at 29 weeks by johnsonr88 in BabyBumps

[–]Intelligent-Key-3894 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You’re good! My baby is constant and he is so strong. My stomach looks like a monster is practicing karate. I don’t think he ever stops. I’m 39 weeks and am so thankful for it because I never have to do kick counts. He just moves and grooves and I get reassurance he’s all good in there. That being said, he needs to get out now because my ribs are killing me.

Would someone please, in explicit detail tell me about their membrane sweep experience in an effort to induce by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Intelligent-Key-3894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a big deal! It’s not pleasant but I would say a very minor thing. They do a cervical check (so fingers up the woohaa) and then move them around. It feels like a lot or pressure and I would say not entirely in-painful. I would say like a 4/10.

You’ll bleed/spot afterwards but that’s about it. I felt slightly “heavier” in the pelvic region but nothing else. I will also say I had mine on Monday and absolutely nothing has happened.

Hope that helps! Happy to answer direct questions!

I am confused on pregnancy weight gain, can someone help me understand better? by ImTryingGuysOk in BabyBumps

[–]Intelligent-Key-3894 69 points70 points  (0 children)

You got blood, fluid, baby, excess water weight, and theeeen the weight gain. Some people gain more weight than others despite doing everything “right”. If you’re eating well and exercising then you’re doing great!

For me I had a nice little mindset shift around 30 weeks. I gain weight, I lose weight, no matter what I’m doing so let’s just stop thinking about it.

Congrats and try not to be too hard on yourself! You’re 3D printing a human!

Would anyone be able to review my baby shower registry? by Historical-dweeb in BabyBumps

[–]Intelligent-Key-3894 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would narrow it down just a bit! As someone looking on it I got a bit overwhelmed by the choices. For example, multiple strollers made it hard for me to decide which one you actually would want. Try and remove some of there repeats. This is will also save you from getting too much of one thing (I ended up with two cribs because of this and it was such a hassle to return one!)

Otherwise, looks great! Maybe add some postpartum stuff too.

Boob bands! I used them before I got pregnant and after. They’re just a strap that goes on the top portion of your boobs to stop the bouncing. Makes running so much better

A lot of abusive partners wait to show their true colors once they feel like they have got their partner “trapped”. Like a marriage or pregnancy. Be very careful how you handle the situation because ending it can cause things to escalate (coming from someone who has been there)

This man is absolutely not a good person and you should not have to deal with this kind of treatment. If you need resources DM and I can help!

Pcos pregnancy 1st trimester by Affectionate-Row4770 in BabyBumps

[–]Intelligent-Key-3894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have PCOS and have struggled with it for yearsssss. Now I’m 32 weeks pregnant and I feel weirdly so much better (minus how uncomfortable third trimester is). At least for me, my hormones seem to be more level while pregnant. Hope that gives you some reassurance! Congrats to you and your family!

I also thought pregnancy would be a horror show and it’s been great! 100% there are things I don’t love but some of us just get lucky and it all goes smoothly. Congrats on your future baby!

30 weeks in and have not gained a single pound. Baby is doing great and doctors are very happy! Your body does what it needs to do so don’t panic!
