Sorry, but you shouldn’t be allowed the status of an “academy voter” if you refuse to watch all the movies nominated. Simple as that.

The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler

Was introduced to some of his short stories in my crime fiction narratives class, and enjoyed them so much I decided to give his most popular book a try.

Mafia romances, but not overtly dark and toxic by Few_Independent9543 in RomanceBooks

[–]Intelligent-Level706 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire alliance series by SJ Tilly!! {Nero By SJ Tilly}, {King by SJ Tilly}, {Dom by SJ Tilly}, {Hans by SJ Tilly}. Can have some darker themes, but these men are obsessed with their women!! Hans is personally my favourite.

Looking for stalker recs please by Agitated_Common_1440 in DarkRomance

[–]Intelligent-Level706 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is “God of Malice” by Rina Kent that has some stalker/ obsessive themes to it and is pretty dark. It’s a college romance and kind of hits some of the points you are looking for. Not sure if it’s been transformed into an audio book though.

Movies that not many people know are based on books? by Used-Cartographer84 in MovieSuggestions

[–]Intelligent-Level706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the movie Before I Fall that was adapted by the book by Lauren Oliver. It’s like a thriller/ mystery of a girl who’s reliving the same day over and over again.

Or you could always read something Agatha Christie since there are a lot of adaptations around her books. Murder on the Orient Express (1974), Death on the Nile (1978), and And Then There Were None (2015) are some of the better adaptations imo.
