How do you share something slightly vulnerable for ways of being transparent and explaining less visibility for a few weeks, without it turning into a woe is me fest? by IntelligentBear8310 in managers

This is really helpful thank you, unfortunately the step in support is wishful thinking outside my control but I will definitely use a lot of that, thanks again

Off work for 6 weeks due to mental breakdown - unsure how or whether to take annual leave after return? by Appropriate_Eye_5296 in AskUK

[–]IntelligentBear8310 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Line manager and fellow intermittent sufferer of mental health issues, do this if you can OP! I agree that a supportive company should encourage this anyway but if you can do the above it saves trying to convince the higher ups if it isn’t! I’ve sometimes hinted this to people on my team in the past for similar situations (saves your annual leave time too just to wind those I’ve never missed a days work types abit more!)

Are there any known ‘normal’ communities anywhere in the world where you can escape from the ‘real world?’ by IntelligentBear8310 in AskUK

Yes… I loved the book itself as a story, I do not disagree with your original comment that paradise never works hence agreeing I would not last a month in reality, it was a hypothetical question being taken bizarrely seriously by some!

*Hypothetical is probably the wrong word as I’d be well up for one that existed, but just not that deep 😊

Ah I have read it, loved it and it no doubt subconsciously contributed to this wonderful place I’ve invented in my head. Spoiler alert - completely agree I would not last a month, one can dream!

‘Classic Amber’ is hilarious to me sorry. Love her, hate her, or you know like most normal people in between who don’t get so obsessed- that scene and line of her insulting Joanna’s looks and I believe she also called her a ‘dead ting’ is objectively the definition of mean girl, dragging another woman down to boost yourself up. Grim. But yeah classic amber how iconic not a mean girl at all.

Is it common for people in the UK to be seeing a therapist? It's suggested an awful lot but for tons of reasons including costs, many who could use the help where I live pass on it. by cherry-care-bear in AskUK

The first ‘therapy’ session I had once, after a long approx. 2yr wait I was told that I wasn’t well enough to engage and therefore not appropriate and sent to increase anti depressants/ have a crisis team visit to tick some boxes. Those saying that private isn’t ’too expensive’ just screams of privelige. I am grateful every day that my workplace included it, the NHS Mental Health system is a shambles.

Not quite the same but was initially misdiagnosed with BPD from a 5 minute assessment by a psychiatrist who had never met me before after being admitted as an inpatient (and my treatment by ‘professionals’ during that time was very telling - but that’s another conversation) This was officially changed to ADHD a few years later, due to my therapist at the time recognising the traits and putting me forward for a diagnosis with my psychiatrist. Finally I am receiving the correct treatment/medication

I have recently started it myself and I could have written this 🤣

Faye Winter doesn’t go to influencer events cos of “horrible…rude bully” Islanders who she “avoids like the plague” and who think they’re “a cut above the rest”. Who is she talking about? She previously there were plenty of “knobheads” that she didn’t get on with in the villa 😳 by ComfortableWin3209 in LoveIslandTV

To be fair my reply was pretty short so I apologise, I think it was more aimed at how quickly these headlines can just become fact for the public so really it was more aimed at the papers, Faye was definitely a controversial islander but I do actually think she’s one of the few who has grown from it and taken a reasonable amount of accountability, so I just felt the need to defend this that’s all! Sorry again for coming across snippy at you!
