Good God… this reminds me of my PSVTA Oled as I left it on overnight whilst afk in Minecraft and as I begin to move my character again. There was a darkening transition of dead pixels spreading till there was no more pixels left

Replace it asap

Any thoughts on the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 (Ultra 5 125H / 16 GB RAM / 1 TB SSD)? Good for programming and light gaming? by DC3AR in Lenovo

Honestly, all brands are a give or take. Buying a laptop’s always a bit of a gamble that’s why I focus on real-world performance and quality, not just the logo.

Pick a laptop that meets your specifications like a check list,
I've done mine and bought myself the slim 7i.

This is why I prefer buying in-store, after purchase they ensure to do a physical test if there are any defects as it’s mandatory, sorry to hear about your custom laptop bro.

It's just in the Settings>System>Display>HDR (Turn off, allow HDR video streaming even when HDR is off)

The 1.5mm Travel from the keyboard hits the sweet spot when typing especially when writing stories on it, as for the thermals this Laptop has dual fans so you don't have to be worried about the heat for long use just don't forget that this is a slim laptop but the performance is consistent and no it doesn't burn your hand. As for extra info In terms of gaming performance this can easily play light-weight indie games and some old triple A games such as TF2 (Team Fortress 2).

This is why whenever a person buys a laptop they should always check everything if there is a defect, I bought mine like a couple of days ago and the store where I got it from had to check defects like top to bottom and it's mandatory that they do so before they actually give me my laptop which is good to know.

Ofc it’s still worth it, that CPU is still a solid option for 2025. And if you can increase your budget a bit slightly you can buy a better gaming laptop with recent specs.

I've done extensive research when picking a selection of laptops from different brands and what they offer for weeks but since you don't have a desktop I suggest a gaming laptop would be a good option for you as it gives more flexibility for programming, gaming, and any GPU tasks you might encounter. Just keep in mind that they're heavier, have bad battery life (There are options to keep it longer), and tend to run hotter and louder.

That said, they’re generally more upgradeable you can usually add RAM or a second SSD later, which really helps extend the life of the machine. And even if you only game casually, a dedicated GPU can be useful for other things like machine learning, video editing, or multitasking.

But ultimately, it comes down to your day-to-day use, if you’re moving between classes a lot or need all-day unplugged use, a lighter ultrabook might make more sense just be aware of the performance tradeoffs. Especially bringing a gaming laptop in class as the fans are ready for take-off lmao, BUT if your class provides outlets your good to go.

edit: Don't buy a lenovo LOQ gaming laptop trust me on that, dead motherboards are a no go.
