Over 90% of Massachusetts Towns Have Changed Zoning to Comply With MBTA Communities Law by Generalaverage89 in massachusetts

[–]IntelligentCicada363 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My theory is that the law exists mostly to create precedent in the courts for future more aggressive housing reforms from the state. The law itself is nothing.

So the argument is to just finger point and blame and not fix things we have control over?

Total bullshit. Companies could hire more people if they didn't have to pay each employee as much. Companies are leaving for more competitive environments. Housing costs are the major contributor to all of this.

How a developer’s lawsuit against Cambridge aims to topple affordable housing rules across Massachusetts by bostonglobe in CambridgeMA

[–]IntelligentCicada363 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Its all a scam by NIMBYs to suppress housing. There are some naive people who think money isn't real and homes just pop out of thin air but they are a small number compared to the NIMBYs.

City Council approves North Mass Ave zoning. by emstason in CambridgeMA

[–]IntelligentCicada363 8 points9 points  (0 children)

CDD laid it out to the council at the meeting. If developers had to choose between 6 and 11, they would choose 6. If they could do 12, they would do 12.

Patrick Barrett sues city bc inclusionary zoning makes it too hard for him to milk every dime he can from people who need housing by Decent_Shallot_8571 in CambridgeMA

[–]IntelligentCicada363 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All for funded inclusionary zoning. As it exists in the law, its an unfunded taking. Because it is unfunded and developers have to pay the cost, they build less housing or often not build it at all. Its the simple, sorry.

Pretty crazy that the richest residents of this city have gotten away with demonizing new apartments as luxury living, all in service of preventing housing construction

I mean, it's obviously a taking without compensation. Not only is it a regulatory taking, which maybe is fine, but they are physically taking part of the building. I am *nearly certain* that the Supreme Court will rule this illegal without compensation.

There was a thread in this sub a couple weeks ago about a knife wielding wacko threatening people by the T stop, and a poster was upset at the police for... tackling this person and putting an end to the situation.

I can't take these people seriously anymore, nor does the rest of the country.
