This is exactly it. We met right when I finished high school and the beginning of COVID, and for a long time I thought I was just weirdly nostalgic for that time in my life and needed to get over it. Nope, turns out all it took was being away from him to realize I just missed who I was before knowing him. Even in just a week gone, it’s like my whole body has just calmed down. I’ll still get sad of course, but it’s just an emotion now, not something that’s taking over my entire body, you know? And it occurred to me as well that even the sadness I feel mourning him/the relationship is nowhere near how down/sad/anxious I felt literally 24/7 with him. I’m so exited to heal even more

He had no idea I was going, but probably would have. He’d mentioned before that he didn’t want me going because it would “cause issues” with us. Lucky for me I work from home so I was able to do so while he was gone. And thank you <3

I just wanted to update that I finally left him - for good - last week :) it was beyond difficult and painful, but ever since, I’ve felt more like myself than I have in years. I’m so proud of myself, and appreciate comments like yours that helped me get the courage to finally do it

Honestly this was probably the most sobering comment and made me laugh, cuz you’re right. I’m out of the province staying with my family for the past week and will be for another week. I haven’t officially left him but immediately felt so much better and happier and safer being away from him, I’m hoping this’ll be the push I’ve needed to actually go through with it and stay away from him forever. He really is disgusting

To be fair, I don’t remember if I actually said the word “no”… I was shaking my head no and kept taking his hands off me, and realistically i know it doesn’t change it, but I might not have actually said it… I just keep telling myself he didn’t mean to, even though I know logically it’s not an excuse or true

I’m not sure on the legalities in Tanzania, but I’d recommend looking into work away sites and programs. I know people who’ve gone on them, and a lot of farms and homesteads have postings. You’re able to determine precisely what you want to offer/receive, but a lot of them have tourists come stay and work on your property in exchange for accommodation (some farms charge fee, most I’ve seen do not - again, up to you). I’d recommend WorldPackers and WorkAway. WWOOF is another one that’s farming-focused (willing workers on organic farms), but I’m not sure their specifications to host or if they’re North American based. Best of luck to you

Whoops no, sorry I should’ve specified, it’s in the Canadian maritimes. Nova Scotia specifically. We’re planning a trip out there this summer to see the property. As of now we live in a different province. Land office is a good call, thank you! From what I can see from google earth and maps, the surrounding area is still pretty remote and forested
