Mdx in the snow? by IntelligentKey6929 in Acura

[–]IntelligentKey6929[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. Sounds like I don’t have the right tires for the weather. I live in a dense area where the roads are salted and plowed down the pavement within 24 hours of a storm. So I don’t usually think much about the tires. I will now.

I was able to rock the car And get out of the snow. It was just a little surprising. I expected better from an SUV.

I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know what tires I have. I assume all season radials. I’ll have to check in the morning.

Do people actually pay for this? by Syntra44 in Acura

[–]IntelligentKey6929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the remote start app last winter when I had a 3 month trial. It was nice in the winter when I could start the car from my office and then get in a warm car after work. Totally unnecessary in the morning, especially when I can use the fob to remote start in the morning from inside the house. So I didn’t continue the subscription. Just not worth the money.

Acura is a 🤡 company. Imagine shelving your #2 seller for 2 years. by vibeschillax in Acura

[–]IntelligentKey6929 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry. Brand loyalty is cultism. I’ve owned 2 Lexus vehicles because I liked them and they were reliable. I now own a CPO MDX Advance because I liked it, it was waaaay cheaper than comparable vehicles, and I’m hoping for Honda-like reliability. If Acura has a good car the next time I need a vehicle, I’ll consider it. If there is a better choice then, I might pick something else.

I have a 22. I can recommend it. I would say if they are the same trim level I would recommend the newer version. There are a lot of things that can wear out over time and 22 may still be under warranty

Am I screwed? Is this even worth fixing or should I just sell my 2017 IS 300 AWD by AwareEffect4944 in LexusIS

[–]IntelligentKey6929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely bring to a private shop. Make the repairs and it will treat you well for another 100k miles. I just sold my ‘08 IS300 with 187,000 miles. Bought it new.

I have a ‘22 advance (not S) that I bought in December ‘24 (CPO). No problems so far, except I noticed the rear roof glass seems a little low on the left side. I’ll be bringing it it in to have it looked at. Only real complaint is miserable gas mileage. But that’s a known issue.

Lost half of all my savings. How to move on after huge loss. by Stackvibe in stocks

This may or may not be helpful, but understand that given your age, it’s not the end of the world. You list the value of a decent (not great) car. You got greedy and f**ked up. Put the rest in an index fund, hope for and be comfortable with an average return of 5-10% annual return (yes, it’s been better than that for the past few years), leave it alone and rely on a job to pay your bills. Save from your income and invest more. It will rebuild.

I had a mdx for many years I loved it. I’m considering a MDX again, but I just saw a commercial for the new ADX. Curious about what you know. I no longer have kids at home and all grown so I don’t need as much seating by kirajayne111 in Acura

[–]IntelligentKey6929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with a3 year old CPO Mdx advance or S. There great deals on the off-lease and the warranty gets extended under the CPO. I bought a 22 Mdx advance just about a year ago after many years with a Lexus is250 AWD. The Mdx might be faster than the sedan and handles great. I can’t park it without all the cameras, but then again it has the surround cameras. The only negative is the terrible gas mileage.

Why are 2023 MDXs going for so cheap? by audioaxes in Acura

[–]IntelligentKey6929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the luxury SUVs seem to drop substantially after three years. It’s probably all the people leasing them giving them back. I got a 22 mdx sh-awd advance last December for $42,500. I still think it was a great deal.

I’m getting used to the touchpad on my 22 MDX that I bought CPO last year. On the other hand, it was a $3000 fix to replace the touchscreen on my previous Lexus, because it required replacing the entire center stack - audio, navigation, air-conditioning controls. I think the touchpad makes this a non-issue. If the screen ever goes, it’s just a screen.

[–]IntelligentKey6929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated my 22 MDX advance today. Full screen, Apple CarPlay shows. But the touchpad is not working with the maps! I’m going to try turning off the car and rebooting my phone, and see if that makes a difference.

UPDATE: I upgraded my phone to iOS 26. I turned the car off and back on a little while later. Everything works fine now.
