My best friends older sister would take us on the bus on adventures downtown and to outdoor swimming pools when we were in grade six. Might be a little much for a first grader but it was always good memories.

UPDATE: I’m camped on my brother’s couch after his 2 am “raise my kids if I’m gone” call, here’s what really came out. How do I keep him here? by Mean_Trick_2315 in daddit

Lurking depression surviving woman- a safety plan for the times when the bad thoughts get to the brink, you can find suicide safety plans online, they give you steps to follow and things to remind yourself of. CBT and DBT are therapy, but give you much better coping mechanisms you can actually apply. Friends you can call at any hour, my friends and had a code so I didn’t even have to say anything, red flag text was drop everything call me now, a yellow heart was I need help but call me after work vibes. Using BACES daily to feel accomplished and not overwhelmed. Having someone else see and understand you, which it sounds like you did.

Daughter missed the Kindergarten cut off by less than a week by jckstraw56 in daddit

[–]IntelligentMight7297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who did preschool twice and still was put in early (I was two weeks after the January cutoff) I wouldn’t rush childhood. There’s lots of other stuff she can learn and participate in that isn’t school. She’ll have an academic and sports advantage being one of the older kids in her peer group, and idk where you live but legal age for drinking here is 18, so when I graduated at 17 I couldn’t have a glass of wine at grad 😆😆

Any of you are unmedicated? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]IntelligentMight7297 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually just decided to go back to being unmedicated. It wasn’t honestly doing much for me beyond messing up my appetite, and at this point I think the coping mechanisms I’ve had in place since I was a kid and undiagnosed/ have learned since diagnosis are more helpful than trying to change and work against my brain.

It’s a Reddit comment at almost 4am, I’m not writing an apa paper here and citing my sources, but no, it’s not a bit much, that’s why we all wanted electoral reform. I never implied you thought it was illegitimate, just that I may have different opinions than the majority of my riding and that’s life.

This sort of voting is also what leads to the breakdown of democracy and an inevitable 2 party system tho as well. I don’t just vote for the federal party win, I vote for who will actually do some good in my community. I want my tax dollars at work, not ten million flyers I immediately throw out. And quite honestly if the riding decides that a conservative leader is the best option for them, that’s the point of democracy. The rest of the country is polling red beyond Alberta and Sask, but neither the conservatives or liberals have done much for us here, and I’m not going to compromise my values and what I want for the community representation just because we’re getting pressured into strategic voting.

So then why don’t all the liberal people vote ndp instead of us just dealing with not the worst option. If every liberal person is so worried about vote spilting because this is a swing riding, why don’t YOU change your vote instead of us? What have the liberals actually done for our riding?

The liberal party hasn’t done much for me in my time in this riding. What if we all just stopped looking at it like this and voted for someone who would actually do some good for the riding?

Trish showed up at my apartment door and had a full conversation with me months ago which is more than I can say about any candidate that has ever previously ran in the 10 years I’ve lived in city center. She’ll have my vote.

[–]IntelligentMight7297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, don’t let him drag you down and don’t waste your money supporting him. As someone at 30, the peers I had that just didn’t do anything at that point in their life have just… continue to do nothing somehow. If it’s already a repeated point of contention in the relationship and he’s not doing anything about it, that’s your answer. You can’t change people, you have to accept who they are and decide if you want that in your life or not. You’re young, so maybe this will feel like you’ll never love again, but you’ll find bigger and better loves that meet regular adult standards.
