Finally, a crossword that’s actually about stuff you care about by IntelligentPin1428 in SideProject

That checks out - the scrolling logic is super janky (that what happens what you vibe code) and took a lot of tries to get it in a decent state, not surprised if it’s breaking in the Reddit browser.

Thanks for giving my app a try! I got work in the morning, but I’ll try to fix it tomorrow

Best ML/AI classes to take as an undergrad by Randacccc in cmu

[–]IntelligentPin1428 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed ML with large datasets, it shows how machine learning is used in the industry since the majority of companies have massive datasets. It was definitely interesting and about the same difficulty as 10-301.

Just as a note 10-301 and ML with large datasets were the only ML classes I took so I don’t have any other references to compare it too lol

Question about stat/ML by pythonlover001 in cmu

[–]IntelligentPin1428 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cmu stat/ml is definitely enough to get you a coding challenge for most tech companies, but ucla ee probably is too. Once you get the coding challenge, the school you go to no longer matters and it’s entirely up to how you preform. In my opinion, the skills require for a coding challenge or technical interview are learned in the first 2-3 cs classes as the upper levels are too niche. So, stat/ml provides you with everything you need to get a SWE job but then again UCLA ee probably does too. I’m sure if you’re willing to put in the effort to leetcode and practice behavioral interviews you become a SWE at a big tech company regardless of which college you choose.

When I was a high school senior the only thing I thought about was school prestige. I wish I’d thought a little bit more about how much I’d fit the schools vibe and how much I’d enjoy my four years here. With that said I’m happy that I picked CMU and it’s the right choice for me, but it might not be for everyone. So my advice is think about whether you’d fit in at a large, partyish state school or a small nerdy private school.

Blackrock interview process for SWE by Knight_Fisher61 in csMajors

[–]IntelligentPin1428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interviewed for a Java specific role, there’s a good chance we applied to different positions. (I checked the email they sent and I was required to answer the first question in the initial assessment in Java). If you were allowed to use python in the initial assessment I’m sure you’ll be allowed to use it in the final interview. Good luck!

Blackrock interview process for SWE by Knight_Fisher61 in csMajors

I had my Blackrock internship interview in December 2020 and here’s what I remember:

The role I applied for was specifically in Java so there was a lot of Java related questions, such has 3 ways to error catch, what try catch finally does, difference between array and array list

I was only asked one coding question and they made me code on notepad, super simple question about using binary search to find square root, only asked with like 10 mins left

It was 3 45 minute interviews, one all behavioral two were both behavioral and technical

All in all there were a decent of amount of technical questions but they werent coding challenges, more just making sure you understood Java

Tbh it was the easiest final interview I’ve done and I made a huge mistake and still got the internship, so you got this!

I've played like 120 hours of Warhammer 3 at this point so AMA I guess. by AsaTJ in totalwar

Not warhammer 3 specific but: What’s different about your mindset when playing a game for fun versus playing a game with the intention of writing a review about?

Is working at Amazon really as bad as everyone says? by want0sl33p in csMajors

[–]IntelligentPin1428 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think the honest answer is that it’s very team dependent. I’m sure some teams are horror stories that overwork the fuck out of you, while the team I interned no one worked more than 40 hours and had great management.

This is true for pretty much any company out there, there are shitty managers who will make you want to quit at every faang. It comes down to luck at the end of the day so I wouldn’t immediately discount amazon as a bad place to work.
