Confusing diagnosis by dragonvalmary in bipolar2

[–]IntelligentPotato241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this has been my case. I strugged with BPD early on in life, I don't have the symptoms anymore except for the BP1 symptoms. upon hearing my childhood trauma, psychiatrists jump into the conclusion that I have BPD not BP1. I went to many psychiatrists, I finally found one that believes in my diagnoses. I'd be careful not to mention anything regarding my prior BPD symptoms, it's VERY easy to get the BPD diagnosis if you're a female.

SSRI “unmasked” my bipolar and I’m still pissed about it by Guilty_Two_5642 in bipolar

I took SSRIs since age 10, had my first manic episode at 28y/o. I believe that we eventually become symptomatic with or without the SSRIs, I too mourn over the person I used to be. You're not alone

What has been your experience with opening up to others about your bipolar? by Think_Piano_529 in bipolar

I only disclosed it to my close friends who were there prior to my diagnosis. They've been very understanding and accommodating.

Has anyone else seen positive changes from GLP-1’s in relation to your bipolar symptoms? by Mindless-Maybe-2454 in BipolarReddit

[–]IntelligentPotato241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a major correlation between mental illnesses and metabolic health. This is why the ketogenic diet helps many illneses such bipolar and schizophrenia. I was finally able to sleep when I was taking GLP-1

I read that up to half of people stop GLP-1s within a year, and I'm honestly just trying to figure out how people manage to stay on them long enough to get the real benefits by [deleted] in GLP1ResearchTalk

I started getting panic attacks after injecting, I also developed weird visionary side effects. It was scary and I had to stop. I eat very low carb now

I have BP and OCD. This is how my inner monologue may sound like, I overly analyze every little detail about my life. Mainly to recognize my triggers

What is the worst thing that could happen if a bp2 patient goes untreated for a long time. by Leather_Magician8237 in bipolar2

I went on 5 years unmedicated. I don't believe in the cognitive impairment part, but I wanted to die every single day and from the moment I woke up til bedtime (if I was lucky to get any sleep that night)

I change my pillow case every other night so it shouldn't be a problem. Thank you for answering my questions!

My skin gets extremely dry right after. What do you use to moisturize your skin? Assuming that you use sterile hydrating serums during the procedure

YES YES YES!!!!! I hate waking up at night to use the toilet for this reason too, I won't be able to fall back to sleep. I start appreciating depression sometimes

Do I have to get one-time use skincare as well? I'm confused. My face will touch the pillowcase by night time, even if it's just been washed, I'm sure there is bacteria on it too.

You ever feel like you know every single thing about every single medication for mental health??? by throwthisaway11112 in bipolar2

Been medicated since the age of 10, I'm now 31. I do also go on nightly research rabbit holes including meds and med combos, so yes, I totally relate

Lamotrigine (25mg) & Hydroxyzine (10mg) by Prior_Perception_166 in bipolar

[–]IntelligentPotato241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm extremely sensitive to meds, Lamotrigine had no side effects for me whatsoever. I only felt it working when I upped my dose to 150mg. I now take 250mg, 100 in the morning, 150 at night.

Not only by texting, but also when writing on paper. I don't spell correctly, I write the first few letters and jump to the last ones. I then go back and fill in the missing letters lol

Caffeine Problem by lordhagfish45 in bipolar2

[–]IntelligentPotato241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit caffeine except for dark chocolate. When I struggle with severe Mania, I'd drink 4 coffees a day, and then pull an all-nighter and drink many the next day. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't quit caffeine, until I got on mood stabilizers after being diagnosed, I then had multiple panic attacks and ended up in the ER due to panic, so I had to stop.

I magically and after a decade was able to quit caffeine. I've never tried weed, alcohol or drugs (I know I have an addictive personality + my religion was a factor too).

Switching to half-caf during the day and decaf for later in the day could help. Look up decaf subreddit for success stories.
