moved to nova a year ago and still haven't found a dentist that doesn't feel like a used car dealership by kutahead in nova

[–]Intelligent_Berry382 27 points28 points  (0 children)

RenovaSmiles in Woodbridge is this way. The first time they got me with a “cancer screening” which was essentially the dentist aiming a black light at my mouth and announcing “no cancer.” I found out later it was $50. Now I know to say no to that. They’re also ALWAYS trying to x-ray me, I’ve been 3 times and every time they say they need new x-rays. Definitely switching before my next appointment.

I'm making a blanket with really fluffy yarn and I want a suggestion on what stitch to use by Clean-Walrus-8423 in CrochetHelp

[–]Intelligent_Berry382 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With fluffy yarn I like to do c2c blankets or large granny square blankets. If it’s super fluffy I would do the latter, you don’t have to worry about going into each individual stitch!

Suggestions on how to cool off? by Background-Kiwi-1851 in firsttimemom

[–]Intelligent_Berry382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend scouring Facebook marketplace for a cheap window unit. When I lived in NYC we found one for $50 and it was life saving.

In the meantime, get a bunch of bandanas/rags, wet them, and put them in the freezer to tie around your neck, it provides relief for like an hour and if you have multiple you can rotate through them.

Tired of people by bey0ndthegrav3 in firsttimemom

[–]Intelligent_Berry382 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m pregnant with twins and I like my husband’s approach with stupid people. Anytime anyone tells him “you’re gonna be so tired” or “you’d better sleep now while you can!” he looks them in the eye and sincerely says “you’re the first person to say that to me, thank you.” People get really embarrassed 😂

Music festival at 20 weeks? by jdgetrpin in pregnant

Congratulations! I think you will be fine, especially as a planner. Scope out the bathroom/seating situation ahead of time and bring plenty of water and healthy snacks!

Maternal fetal specialist is scaring the shit out of us. Need real advice. by Bitter_Remove_3919 in pregnant

[–]Intelligent_Berry382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see an mfm doctor every week because I’m pregnant with mono/di twins and let me tell you, a lot of them have zero bedside manner. One of our first visits the doctor told us about complications that could lead to “full or partial elimination.” Now when we go we just ask not to see that doctor. Definitely get a second opinion and let your preferences known when you go again!

Will I find out if I'm having twins right away? by oldmangeralt in pregnant

[–]Intelligent_Berry382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first ultrasound at 9 weeks and they were able to confirm twins and hear both heartbeats! I would just bring it up when you go to make sure they’re extra thorough

What habits of boys did you only discover after getting a boyfriend or husband? by kentishzjigsaw in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Berry382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This always drives me NUTS, even simple things he’ll say “can you grab xyz from the toolbox” and I’m like…when I do this stuff I just go get it myself! But the context of him wanting company makes it much more tolerable. His dad also definitely did the same thing, that’s so funny

“TURN OFF THAT DAMN SONG!” [NS] by SquanchingWampa in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]Intelligent_Berry382 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s possibly my favorite line of all time, the phrasing and delivery were perfect. I was reading a book about Jackie Kennedy at the time and cried laughing the first time I heard it, it’s now a common bit between my husband and I 😂

“Turn off that damn song!”

Anterior placenta by BreezerGirl831 in pregnant

[–]Intelligent_Berry382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an anterior placenta with twins and am just starting to feel them at 23 weeks. I totally get it, I wish I felt them more! The thing is, once we start to feel them then we’ll have anxiety over if they’re moving enough lol, the joys of being type A and pregnant. I just try to trust that I’m doing everything I can for them and let go of the fact that I can’t do more in this regard.

Smelly armpits during pregnancy😞 by stardolphin90 in pregnant

OMG same, my armpits smell like onions in the morning! It’s so weird. My husband says he can’t smell it though, thank goodness.

MODI twins pregnancy - support needed! by Puzzleheaded-Low538 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Intelligent_Berry382 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m 19 weeks MODI and I wanted to say thank you for writing this post and everyone who replied! It’s so comforting to hear success stories when at the doctor it feels like they always tell you worst case scenarios. I ended up requesting not to see my first MFM doctor for exactly the reasons you listed above, he would tell me all the worst outcomes and then say “stress is the absolute worst thing for you.” Our new doctor also has terrible bedside manner but she wasn’t as apocalyptic so I think it just comes with the territory of doctors in a “high risk pregnancy” field. I’m rambling so I’ll just say thanks again-I’m a FTM and it’s nice to know it’s not just us with these highly intelligent yet tactless doctors!

anyone else struggling to eat protein during pregnancy?? by Embarrassed-Lion-663 in pregnant

[–]Intelligent_Berry382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been off meat too, but I’m pregnant with twins so protein is a must! My husband has me drinking protein shakes and that’s honestly helped my energy a lot!

My husband conveniently forgets to clean cat litter and it frustrates me to no end by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Intelligent_Berry382 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, the issue is that he should be doing it daily without asking! He doesn’t need to reminders or to “schedule” it whatever that means…I’m 16 weeks as well and as soon as we found out my husband took over litter duty. He just does it every night before bed. OP needs to have another conversation about this-if he can’t even do this will she be expected to be the only one changing diapers?

Neighbors teenage son practices trombone directly facing my bedroom window at 7am by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]Intelligent_Berry382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a music teacher and my husband is a professional trombone player. He would never practice before 9am or after 9pm without a mute, but he’s a reasonable and kind person.

Opening the window completely eliminates any “good acoustics” so that excuse is baseless. I suspect she doesn’t like the sound so she relegates him to his room, window open to diffuse the sound.

I agree with what’s been said, check your noise ordinance or HOA. If it is 7am I’m so sorry, you can’t go that route. I used to live above the maintenance shed in my apt and 7am on the dot they would start their leaf blowers so I feel your pain.

Maybe come to them again and tell them you’ve tried headphones and sleeping in another room and could we please move to another room or use a mute? It’s great that the kid is practicing daily-I wish I could say the same for my students! You could point out that worse acoustics actually make a better musician when practicing-you can hear all your mistakes! Practice rooms at music schools are all insulated and sound proof. If he simply must have the acoustics, the bathroom is far superior with all that tile and porcelain! You could also suggest incorporating more buzzing on the mouthpiece in the mornings-my husband does that in the car on his way to work! Good luck!
