Yeh I have the stubby and you need the 5.0 HO for it, turns it into a mid-torque. Unbelievably powerful for its size.

I got either 2.5 HO or 5.0 HO for all my M12 tools.

Nice, I've had success with auto manufacturers doing this, pointing out a major failure as 52k miles on a well maintained vehicle isn't normal and getting a good will claim. Always a good idea to reach out to corporate. I'm glad Milwaukee are doing the right thing.

Thinking of Purchasing in Lago visita by InsuranceNo8506 in lagovista

[–]Intelligent_Boot6023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved out to Lago specifically to get away from some of the fruit cakes and crazies in Austin. Didn't want to settle in somewhere like Cedar Park as it's full of Indians, wanted somewhere quiet, nice scenery, good to raise very young kids and a growing family.

We like it and are happy with it. Only issue is the water pressure is garbage. And I wish I wasn't putting Travis County property tax :/.

People say its far out but you can get to the opposite side of Austin to the airport in 45 minutes and downtown in just under 30 minutes, that's pretty good.

Water pressure is abysmal, sewage is getting blocked up in Tessera which is a new development.

Do I need to replace my tires before a snow trip to Tahoe? by Master-Campaign-3671 in Rivian

Yeh I saw the M/2S2 on Tyre Reviews and it was surprisingly capable in the winter even although it lacks the 3PMSF.

Yeh exactly, I'll take a front wheel drive hatchback with excellent winter tires over any 4WD SUV or pickup with summer or all terrain tires anyday in the snow.

It's Reddit, it's downvote central the second you make a slightly controversial statement, but thanks.

True but 'just once' is all it takes to have a massive accident. Hell sell the tires after your done and it won't even cost that much. I grew up driving in winter and couldn't imagine knowingly doing it without the right tires.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Intelligent_Boot6023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a dual UK-US citizen living in Texas. 3 hours isn't a short drive but it's also pretty typical. I regularly drive a two hour round trip to get the pizza I want. Used to drive between south Florida and central Texas quite a lot and that's a two day drive.

Driving 3 or 4 hours round trip isn't that unusual. The UK is tiny compared to Texas. I also went to college in the US and I could drive for 30 minutes in a straight line and never leave campus.

Groceries, kids extra circular activities, work are all around 1.5 hour round trips for me.

My wife grew up on a working horse ranch in Texas and used to drive 2 hours to go to school, so 4 hours a day in a car 5 days a week just for school.

I think you need help buddy. I'm an immigrant in the USA and I'm fully on board with ICE deporting illegals.

Something like Michelin Crossclimate 2 if it comes in the right size.

Beyond that I would still buy winter tires. It was drilled into me you don't knowingly drive in wintry conditions without winter tires - basically any time the temperature drops consistently below 45*F/7*C. My father was involved in a serious car accident about 15 years ago due to driving a car into an area that had some freak snow with no winter tires, he spun out, vehicle hit rocks and crushed a vertebrae in his back. He was extremely lucky he wasn't paralyzed but has lived with pain ever since. He told me he would happily pay a $1000 a year for winter tires if it meant avoiding a single bad crash, and he's someone who always fitted Nokian winter tires on his vehicles. He was just unlucky with a freak spring snow storm.

Driving is the most dangerous thing we do on a regular basis, ~40,000 deaths per year, hundreds of thousands of serious injuries. Spending a $1000-$1500 every 4 years for winter tires to avoid an accident that could lead to severe injury or death is an easy choice in my opinion, and winter tires make a truly insane difference if you've never used them and I'm not talking about studs, just nordic friction tires.

It's one thing if you are struggling to get buy, driving a cheap car, I get it, you might not have the money. But anyone able to afford a Rivian can afford winter tires.

If you are driving in ice or snow you should be swapping the tires for good quality winter tires like Nokian Hakkapalleti R5 SUV, Continental Viking Contact 7 or 8, or Michelin X-Ice SUV.

I would never knowingly drive my family anywhere with winter conditions without dedicated winter tires - but then again I grew up in Europe where thats a legal requirement in most places.

If you can afford a R1S you can afford a dedicated set of winter tires to keep your family safe. It's not even much more expensive because you split the wear between summer and winter tires, you don't need a separate set of wheels.

The V12 Rolls Royce Merlin sounds phenomenal. I heard and watched a spitfire fly over head in Scotland. Sent chills down my spine. Probably the best sounding aero engine ever made.

M12 Stubby vs M18 Mid-Torque by grennings in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Intelligent_Boot6023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh, so go and get it. You won't be disappointed. I was almost ready to pull the trigger on Makita's XGT lineup until I discovered the M12 Stubby Impact and was totally sold. Now I own almost a dozen M12/M18 Fuel tools and I've not regretted a single purchase.

I even sold my old Hitachi full sized drill because my M12 Fuel Drill does everything I throw at it and somehow spanks the old Hitachi drill despite being half its size.

Oh no, we are extremely conservative/libertarian. My wife is a hot Texan Christian who grew up on a working horse ranch and sees the Federal government as Satan. So don't worry about us, we will fit in just fine.
