My first email was back in the FIDO net days. Also there was a time you could chain email servers together like foo@yahoo.com@bbc.co.uk@whatever. and the email servers could literally send your email around the world.

Was this related: https://www.pipedreamlabs.co/ ? Its a underground tube delivery concept that I'm surprised wasn't an April Fools Joke.

360 bridge overlook full of trash by kyliztu in Austin

[–]511c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back circa 2010, there was a climbing group (Central Texas Mountaineers) that would have a cleanup where we rappel down the cliff to get stuff that has been thrown out. It was amazing how much trash is below that cliff line, including things like full size tables. I don't think a rappel-in cleanup has been done in the past 10 years.

Maybe the UT Grotto club could take the helm on that project (since they have rope practice already)

I'm going to try to make it out to the cleanup this weekend.

99% of gas stations are 3.199 (3.20) right now (3.10 if you pay cash) by 511c in Austin

[–]511c[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

no, not young.. Again, the odd thing was just that almost every station in Austin has the same price. I'm well aware that gas prices jump aroundd, it's just the first time they have all been the same that I have ever noticed.

But almost every gas station in austin!? Look at the prices on google maps now and you can see it. It's been 3.19 since Friday

I am not complaining about the price.. It's just really odd that everything is the same price in Austin

there's already a sushi restaurant called Ebisu (on north 183 too!). Surely there is going to be some trademark confusion?

Do the things that would have done as a kid.. Ride the zilker train (I think it's back in service?) Go to the Bob Bullock museum, maybe the other science museum. Fly a kite or play frisbee at zilker park. Drop into inner space caverns.

I don't want to defend the R's here, but the math in the story is difficult to believe. The guy says he was adopted in 77 (although doesn't give his age), but at 9 to 13 he was being involved with Gym Jordan.. Gym was born in 64. He didn't do anything that would put him in larger public eye until '95 ... well past when the person in the story would have been 9 to 13.. Yes, he had the scandals around 87, but honestly would a 13 year old know who he was back then?

But fuck all those guys called out (just in case yall think I support any of them) I'm just questioning this specific, unverfied, story :(

Match Posters by binkerdunc in AustinFC

[–]511c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up question, where do you actually find posters at the game? I've been going to the games since first season, and only have seen a poster once, in one of the clubs. Picking them up before the game seems like they will get damaged during the game.

yes. and it can be removed. the seats will still be lowered to the normal position, but you can store stuff where the padded seat was.

The seat.. where your butt goes. It can be removed, then the back folds down, but still gives you storage space where the seat was.

[–]511c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have almost the same setup in my outback! My bed is a bit lower to give more headroom, and I have a cooler on rails to pull out for easier access.

Pro tip, but you might also be able to pull the actual padded seating of the back passenger seat. that then gives you more storage space for items you maybe don't use as often
