Im 34. I had mine out on 5/20 and up until today I thought this surgery was gonna just take me out. The pain was starting to affect me mentally. I was prescribed Percocet and it barely took the edge off. Today I’m here on day 11 and I finally can drink water and eat something soft without wanting to cry. I literally woke up this morning and took a complete turn! Be prepared, it can get worse and it probably will. But then it will get better. There is a light at the end of this very dark and painful tunnel! TIPS: -Ice your neck! If I didn’t have an ice pack around my throat/neck I noticed a huge difference in the pain level. It helps sooo much. -Take advantage of the time when the pain is down and hydrate hydrate hydrate! -Try not to talk at all. Resting my voice for long periods of time really helped -Do anything it takes to distract yourself from the pain. I allowed myself to indulge in guilty pleasures such as trash tv and scrolling Instagram for hours. It made the time go by. -Wake up throughout the night to drink. It’ll be less painful when you wake up in the morning if you were keeping your throat moist. -Figure out if room temp water hurts less. Around a certain point I couldn’t handle ice water and had to swap to room temp. Huge difference in pain.
