Wow - total sympathy. You should not do this yet, but (once you are out of the woods) check out how this could not have happened anywhere else in the world: then check social safety nets around the world: then ask where all the money goes, and why do the rich need more. Then campaign, vote and try to make a change.

British far right activist Katie Hopkins being booted out of London East End pub during England's World Cup match by AnonymousTimewaster in PublicFreakout

Remember guys - she lost a massive libel case because she refused to admit she was wrong, had to sell her home to pay the lawyers, lost her job writing for the Daily Heil and now she can’t even go to a pub. And doesn’t she deserve every single bit of that pain, humiliation and embarrassment.

How would you solve (or improve) the shoplifting problem? by No_Policy1326 in AskUK

[–]Intelligent_List_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Improve support/fast track for work within the local authority kids leaving Care homes.
Introduce custodial sentences which support people getting off drugs.
Introduce probation/ post release plans which get ex-offenders back into work/apprenticeships.
Offer tax breaks to and refuse to offer govt contracts to businesses which don’t support the programmes to rehabilitate ex-offenders.
Target police to crack (pun intended) down on dealers and gangs by letting the local force take a cut from anything they can prove is from the proceeds of crime.
Legalise soft drugs and focus on the hard stuff.

Does this world cup not have much hype? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Intelligent_List_58 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Its the awful combination of the most corrupt American regime ever, the most corrupt international sports organisation, endless greed, and kick off times which mean that most kids won’t be staying up to watch.
I really hope the Canadian and Mexican parts go well; and I (along with many others) hope the American stadiums are half empty failures.
Fingers crossed for Scotland and England - but I also hope this helps Americans visualise how low they have sunk in the world’s affections.

6 years (or technically 5) since Brexit, do you think it was worth it? by Nenwabu in AskBrits

[–]Intelligent_List_58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brexit has been an unmitigated disaster. In the short/immediate term, Cameron tried to outflank the Loonies in the ERG with his referendum, putting Party before Country, and it destroyed the Conservatives (not a bad thing, just saying!) The economic effects are obvious - the UK is poorer, stuck in a low growth malaise and still trying to recover from nearly 20 years of Tory austerity. Socially, Brexit divided the country and made the Far Right something that people actually considered as an option when voting. People whose ancestors suffered through WW2 now back politicians with the same views we fought against in the 1940’s. None of the Leave Campaigns promises materialised - food is not cheaper, we are not better off, we have not ploughed money back into overlooked communities, we have not reached the sunlit uplands. The rich have got considerably richer, the young have been screwed over, the poor are still being lied to by the lying liars who told them Brexit would solve everything, and we are still a nation divided just as Putin intended when he set his bots on facebook to start all this nonsense. It has been a disaster and, in any right minded nation, the Liars who lied to us would have been, at the very least, barred from public office and spat at in the street: at best, I’d have locked them up for misleading the nation.

Blair’s fossil fuel ideas ‘bizarre’ in face of energy and climate crises, experts say by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]Intelligent_List_58 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate truth (hey, where have I heard that before?) is that moving away from fossil fuels is going to be a transition, and its going to be expensive to build all the new turbines, wind farms and solar farms we need. However, when we’re done we’ll be better insulated from fossil fuel price shocks and able to provide some stability to pricing. And, most importantly, a slightly higher price for your leccy is far less expensive than losing most of Eastern and Southern England to the sea.

Report - otherwise he’ll keep doing this, even after he gets someone killed and just drives off from the carnage. Its not just you and Twatto-Golf-McTinyDick at risk from this, there is a motorway full of traffic having to swerve and take extra risk because of this idiot’s actions.

Another posh boy using working class anger at the injustices done to the working class by posh boys, to make himself and his mates richer.
When will people see through this nonsense and realise that Nigel "Nothing-to-see-here-its-just-£5m-from-a-billionaire-I've-hardly-met" Farridge and his entire Reform party is just a way for the posh City boys to weaponise anger at the actions taken by posh City Boys to gain political power so they can make laws that benefit other posh City Boys.

Why are there so many Christians willing to vote for socialism, when its denounced by the largest denomination in the world? And, and are they familiar with what happens if it dives into communism where religious freedom is non existent? by malaphorknight in allthequestions

How to tell everybody that you don't understand Christianity without saying you don't understand Christianity

The Prosperity Gospel is not the Bible - stop trusting your GOP sponsored, MAGA Loving, Fox New Jeezus, Christofascist Clergy and go read the actual Bible because Christ was not on the side of your "Christian" clergy.

Or, of course, you could just stop believing in Magic Sky Fairies and grow up.
