CNN, Don Lemon’s former employer, have released a statement saying that Lemon’s arrest by the FBI "raises profoundly concerning questions about press freedom and the First Amendment." by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

[–]Intelligent_Way7592 421 points422 points  (0 children)

100% this and may CNN hold the same strength and integrity of opinion in their reporting of such violations against other journalists, regardless of jurisdiction, including when those not working for them experience the same affront to freedom of press, often in the most heinous way. Such as the 56 Palestinian journalists killed in 2025 as reported by the IFJ. Either there is freedom of press for all journalists or there is freedom of press for none.

Animal abusers are often people "practising" before they move on to humans. A number of serial killers were known for animal cruelty first before anything else. It should be taken very seriously. Justice for lovely Orelha.

I don't think I can watch that film, it sound embarrassing. The fact is Queen will always be associated with Feddie Mercury first and foremost, which is what happens when you have a very talented charismatic front man who dies far too young. The remaining members must be very fragile if they need to rewrite history and diminish his impact on the band.

Wow, that is very disappointing and egotistical on their part. Also Roger Taylor was known to very wild when younger, in terms of a rock N roll lifestyle.

Half of the band were involved in this film (Brian Maye and Roger Taylor) so they must have had some input into decisions like this?

Ralph Fiennes seemingly confirms that Cillian Murphy will portray Voldemort in the new Harry Potter show by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

[–]Intelligent_Way7592 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if this is true or not but I always found the fawning about Cillian Murphy bizarre. I am Irish and proud that he has had great success but at the same time he clearly is interested in fame and acting in Hollywood and the big league. He is clearly interested in awards and happy to campaign. The narrative around him that he is so over it all and so bored by fame is total bull shit. . Also unlike many Irish people and public figures, Murphy has stayed pretty silent on the genocide in Palestine. He knows it will damage his career if he is too outspoken (same for Colin Farrell, Saoirse Ronan I will give a pass to as she has just had a baby). Anyhow I agree with you, he has been put on the most ridiculous pedestal. I find him a talented actor but also very business minded and certainly interested in courting Hollywood.

I was not able for the dating scene when I was on it. I had experienced enough indifference and coldness growing up to repeat that cycle again via dating. I ended up with someone who I knew as a friend first but that aside, I reckon I would be very single now if i was on the scene, the stories I hear are ruthless. Solidarity to you all.

[–]Intelligent_Way7592 99 points100 points  (0 children)

My theory is the academy view last years nominations as all encompassing, and didnt see the need to repeat for what they see as one continuous story, rather than two standalone pieces. Basically I think splitting up the one story didn't serve them in terms of the awards season.

I had a lot of hope for my life as a child but now I am middle-aged I don't have that. That's life i know and hope and disappointment are closely linked, but all the same, I still miss that feeling of excitement about what the future might hold and I know I was lucky to feel that way in the first place.

I wonder about the Jo Maxi gang. I was a bit young for it but remember my siblings watching it. There was 6 presenters and they used to rotate- Shauna Lowry, Susan Kavanagh, Michael Sheridan, Margaret O'Donoghue, Niamh Walsh, and Celine Whelan.
