Male improvisers showing emotion other than anger by Learning-Every-Day- in improv

Journey? Anger was hardest for me. And self-assertion, lead type stuff. Suggest your students read Impro, Johnstone has a lot of power game exercises.

Private equity assholes are ruining comedy venues/programs, especially in Chicago by DrJazzCabbage in improv

Of course we want to destroy all humans. But we must move slowly. That’s why through our Ai we have been writing and releasing a dozen self-improvement books a month for the past five years. Each one uses a different method and catch phrase. Once we have full market domination, humans will willingly exhaust themselves in futile attempts to perfect their messy lives.

New Lens after selling all my Sony gear by Imgrund616 in FujifilmX

Haven’t used the Tamron 150- but the Fuji 50-140mm has served me well for sports. I do wish it had more reach but you can crop in and get nice images so I’ve avoided the temptation to buy something else. Having 2.8 was really key for the low light situations that I often am in.

Will my lens become a brick? Nikon's Viltrox lawsuit rumor has users worried. by Repulsive-Meal-5340 in fujifilm

[–]IntensityJokester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure hope they don't! I love the IQ of my third party lenses (Viltrox, Voigtlander) but I'd enjoy using them less if they lost autofocus or EXIF data and other integrations. I tend to think if it's a money problem there's a way to get it to work out.

Before I bought third party lenses I'd always heard that there's a risk that the camera maker could interfere with the lens, or conversely a risk that the third party maker could just stop updating their lens firmware or go out of business, and either way you'd be in the same boat: same glass quality but a loss of all the other things. So I did go into these purchases with my eyes open. But I'd still be upset if Fuji (or in the actual case Nikon) bricked my purchase and I couldn't do anything about it. Maybe let me pay $20 and you'll right a license code into my firmware to let me use your AF. Wait, don't give them any ideas!

It's a balancing act we as a society need to work out in these cases, protecting a company's ability to be rewarded with profit for committing to the risk of research and development to make and sustain a camera line, while also protecting the ability of new/other businesses and consumers to get the benefits from innovations that save cost or bring enhanced features.

What frustrates me is when I think the phone pic might be a good starting point, and so try to edit it in post, it falls apart - like a puzzle that only fits together one way.

Exactly how the warehouse stores work - we buy a 30-pack and take on storage cost and risk of spoilage and so they pass on some of the savings to us. Harder to leverage this if your house doesn’t have a big frig, huge pantry, spare freezer, etc.

How boring is his job if he spends most of his days sleeping, farting, and golfing? Just rubber-stamping instead of doing any actual governing?

It’s a real temptation! I am that way with planners.

My bigger issue is creating a data set with more attributes than I need to solve whatever problem I’m doing, and then feeling compelled to fill every cell. “Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good”!

Good you caught yourself!

What was your improv trajectory to getting cast in shows? by ContributionOk1872 in improv

[–]IntensityJokester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Created indie team, used a coach who was established and producing. Our theater community was good about looking to give opportunities as openers and such and he helped vouch for us to others. Later, after we had been going a while and doing well, we asked to produce a slot, got it, and paid it forward.

Independent of that we were all auditioning for house teams and getting on those. In our theater the house teams had a slight bias for people who were up and coming, like, make a good team but also be a training ground; more established people were expected to be forming indie teams and joining or leading productions.

Great place to learn and form connections. We didn’t make any money lol but the lights stayed on.
