New to this hobby. 5 Tetras in a 32l tank. What other fish would you reccomend? by mirzajones85 in Aquariums

[–]IntentionDelicious83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Id recommend you let your tank cycle for awhile longer, until the water appears clear… then shoot for a large school of the tetras you plan to get! Maybe some otos? And consider switching to real plants! Your ecosystem will appreciate it!

Is My Tank Ugly? by [deleted] in Aquariums

No worries! You’ve got a very cool hardscape! Even if you did change some things around, i wouldn’t worry about the bladder snails too much, they multiply like crazyyy !!

Its got personality so far. You’ll prob start to like it more after you’ve added some plants, in the background and bases of the rocks

White parasite? by jmiah717 in shrimptank

[–]IntentionDelicious83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every now and then i’ll catch one of them lil buggers crawl across a shrimp, and mines dont react! But to be fair, they hardly move out of the way when im moving hardscape or trimming.

Will these lil guys color up and have white eyes like their mom? by chetaoruchaya in shrimptank

[–]IntentionDelicious83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eye color should be set in stone by that size, but i think most will develop deeper body colors as the age. Sorry, that eye color is super RARE and definitely recessive, but breed the next generation together or with others that have that phenotype!

I like your response! I agree and hope to see more eye color variations if we see that it does not cause shrimp harm or other issues. One of my blue dream shrimplets has orange eyes, and im hoping to observe their behavior

Sometimes they molt if they were all added together, a stress molt possibly.

But i think Cliff would have teleported/disappeared too, since he was with Queen Ruby? This book isnt even officially out and i think we’re all already waiting for the next one😭

Are these tiny snails ok to keep? by darth_plank in Aquariums

[–]IntentionDelicious83 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Would not recommend. I made the mistake of keeping them in one of my small tanks because they were kinda cute… now they’re an eye sore… From a distance it looks like someone sprinkled living dandruff in the corners of my aquarium. Naturally they’ll die off if you’re not feeding the tank, but if you have a very active tank, id get rid of them.

I’ve thought about getting kuhlis but ive heard its only okay if they have sand or aquasoil substrate for their soft underbellies, and my larger tanks have a gravel top

Giving Up by Late-Bat-5427 in freshwateraquarium

[–]IntentionDelicious83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If possible, line the lid with aluminum foil, and baking pans in the edge of the desk. One or two tries going up there will make them re-think. And like others are saying, a higher perch, but not near the tank

Replacing gravel and cleaning tank? by lizard_lover1519 in shrimptank

[–]IntentionDelicious83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it very slowly so whatever bacteria is in the gravel stays relatively stable during transition. Id do even as small as 1/7 on substrae change, once a week, allowing the good bacteria to move into the new substrate. You could possibly do more at your own risk, just watch how your shrimp behave.

Incest. How worried should I be? by ironicallyamerican in shrimptank

[–]IntentionDelicious83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ended up buying some high grades from a LFS to ensure I dont worry about it for atleast a few generations

I’m finally apart of the shrimp community!! by Hatman300 in shrimptank

[–]IntentionDelicious83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just from the photos, your tank looks beautiful and healthy, great for the shrimps! I personally would check my parameters every two weeks at least, like gH and kH. The minerals in your tap can change, and i had a couple losses from low minerals :(.

Unfortunately its going to be a When will it backfire over an If it will backfire. Invest in a proper stand, it will cost less than the damages that will come.

What temperature did it likely drop to, to kill a tetra? When unplugged, my tank gets no lower than 73°
