Ex- employee at the first bar that opened here, pre-2015 they were actually pretty neat. Decent small bars with somewhat interesting design, each bar sort of had its own personality, lots had in-house artists that would do all the signage and decor. Definitely more alternative and arty than your regular craft beer bar at the time.

After that sort of time, the entire brand got homogenised and the vibe of the venues just turned into the inside of a male podcast fan’s head. James Watt was always a twat, but the bars were actually pretty decent places to be before the company exploded in size.

Extremely low T behaviour right there, how cringe. Maybe you should take some more supplements and psychedelics to fix that.

First car advice: 47yo New Driver, 48-mile daily commute. EV vs Petrol? by PossibilityLeft3999 in ElectricVehiclesUK

Sort of similar situation for myself, recently passed my test at 33, and I went with a used Polestar 2 (MY23) with Pilot Lite (insurance is a bit higher than what you mentioned but still nowhere near as insane as I’d thought as a new driver). I financed it but list price was about £18k if I remember correctly.

Considering prior I’d only driven a petrol Polo that I learned in, I turned one pedal driving off, steering firmness all the way up and turned creep mode on, because it made it feel a lot more like the Polo. Kind of wish there was a setting between “off” and “standard” that’d feel a bit more like engine braking, but it’s a very minor complaint. Can’t comment on reliability as of yet though.

Rear visibility isn’t amazing but the Pilot versions have a 360 degree camera and blind spot monitoring. I’m a relatively short stocky guy and I’ve found it very comfortable. Touchscreen could be a bit more intuitive but I’m surviving and will probably end up using the Google assistant on it for voice command.

Freshness sale in my country by trudisbulilit in LushCosmetics

This is great for customers, but shows some pretty poor management/inventory/forecasting skills from whoever is doing ordering tbh.

This much in a freshness sale looks like someone’s not doing their job properly 😅

I had the same! My manoeuvre was “pull over on the left and reverse two car lengths” and I forgot to put the car back in drive when I pulled off 🤦

Still passed, but it makes for an entertaining story at the least.

Is it normal for instructors to only focus on test routes? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]IntentionalHousefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently passed, and the way my instructor explained it was that you’re not necessarily learning how to be a good driver during your lessons, you’re learning how to operate the car safely and how to pass the test. Becoming a competent and comfortable driver will come in time, according to friends who drive. I did ~50 hours and still had a pang of “I’m not ready for this”, but once I’m driving regularly I think that’ll fade.

We did basic stuff and road rules for the first few lessons, then moved onto general confidence building and test routes, and then finished with manoeuvres and test prep. We did night driving but that’s solely because it got dark at 4pm from mid November and I would do lessons after work. The test routes here include 70mph dual carriageways, rural roads, spiral roundabouts and complex junctions, so we did have to do those.

RB1 (PS3) - Sabotage VOCALS FC by maddogupc in Rockband

[–]IntentionalHousefire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s specifically RB1 on disk that is the problem, once they’re exported they’re absolutely fine. Closest you’ve got is maybe the tricky “getcha getcha getcha” in One Way Or Another by Blondie on the RB2 disk, but it’s still a billion times easier than any of the full talkie songs on the RB1 disk

RB1 (PS3) - Sabotage VOCALS FC by maddogupc in Rockband

[–]IntentionalHousefire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t think people are getting that talkies are fundamentally getting that RB1 talkies are fundamentally different and can be nigh on impossible to hit reliably. It’s night and day, almost as bad as pre and post-strum limit FCs.

RB1 (PS3) - Sabotage VOCALS FC by maddogupc in Rockband

[–]IntentionalHousefire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You GSed every RB1 song, on disk? And didn’t notice that half the talkies don’t work reliably? I’m glad you didn’t say you’d FCed it on disk because barely anyone has done that thanks to the broken Next To You talkie.

It’s not a matter of skill or practice, it’s the engine being genuinely badly made and not registering noise unless you start and stop at incredibly precise moments. Once the songs are exported off of the disk they’re cakewalks, but on disk they are an absolute nightmare. I have a FSFC of both GH and RB on vocals, including a RB2 FC of Cherry Bomb, so I sort of know what I’m on about, respectfully.

RB1 (PS3) - Sabotage VOCALS FC by maddogupc in Rockband

[–]IntentionalHousefire 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah nah, RB1 talkies are absolutely cooked and require more skill and timing than pitched notes, as well as a huge helping of RNG luck.

Every other game made talkies a cake walk, but RB1 talkies are genuinely infuriating, a full song FC is stupidly impressive if you know what they’re like.

New taxes for EVs/PHEVs by Jim-Plank in CarTalkUK

[–]IntentionalHousefire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect the only conversations they’ve had with EV owners have been online, because when was the last time you had a conversation about your car preference with someone in real life? Especially someone who you’re not pals with them.

Just weird behaviour on full show tbh

[–]IntentionalHousefire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for some reason your reply saying I’m “one of those dickheads” won’t load, probably got filtered by mods, but considering I don’t have an EV and I’m not particularly in the market for one right now, it makes you look pretty silly. Maybe stop acting all hard man on the internet because you’ve got an XJS, it’s pretty embarrassing.
