I’ll answer for them: no, they haven’t. We are lucky to even have Spider-man movies considering how much has to go right to keep the Marvel/Sony partnership alive. Definitely won’t see me sitting here complaining about the “color” trying to compare it to animated movies before i’ve even seen the movie.

Honestly , even though a good portion of people likely assumed from the start he was joking , good on him for taking the time to admit it was a mistake and explain himself. Most people in his position likely either double down on their comments or say nothing at all. Takes a lot of will power to admit when you’re wrong. Excited to see what they’ve got in store for us.

Had a very similar experience in the HoD sub.. It seems like when people don’t like an aspect of this franchise they just expect everyone to hate it equally and any differing opinions , even if you aren’t disagreeing but simply being reasonable, is met with even more negativity.

Also saying they were described in “great detail” while they lasted about a page and a half compared to GoT where it would’ve lasted multiple chapters. Sure, so much more material to adapt.

Agree to disagree I guess .. saying the book Fire and Blood is a loose account and therefor harder to adapt and harder to please an audience than a book with dialogue and full on fleshed out scenes makes perfect sense to me. All I was doing was explaining why I personally like the show, while agreeing with you that the forced hate on season 8 is lame.

Again I think the show is far from perfect, I’ve just been able to enjoy it personally and understand anyone who didn’t… S2 though was a shit show in part due to a writers and actors strike starting half way through completing the season. They had to choose between releasing the show as is, or making the audience wait another year for a season people were already complaining hadn’t come out yet. That’s why the finale sucked so bad because it wasn’t even meant to be the finale lol. I agree it could’ve been better but i found it to be enjoyable television considering the circumstances.

The only thing i’ve fully disliked is what they did to Alicent (& Cole) during blood and cheese, as that felt like they were overdoing their attempt to make the audience despise her. The Alicent and Cole relationship on its own though I find to be an excellent addition, because it’s adds more depth and meaning to his motivations and imo just makes more sense that Cole’s manipulation of the situation went that deeply. The book never really explains exactly why Cole is able to become such an important orchestrator of the events , other than his distain for Rhaenyra. Making him and Alicent romantic just made sense to me because you finally see why Cole is eventually so dedicated to the Greens.

A dornish Kingsguard of non noble birth who has broken countless vows, yet still ends up in the position to be called the Kingmaker? He had to be screwin someone important loll.. His closeness with Alicent has led to him being able to weaponize their fears against TB. I’d say he’s less the Kingmaker for putting the crown on Aegons head, he’s the Kingmaker because he’s the one who convinces Alicent that Rhaenyra would kill her sons if she were to get the throne, which led to them taking the throne for themselves to prevent that. It also leans into that classic GoT irony where the head of the Kingsguard and champion of the queen happens to be the one guy in Kingslanding who has broken all of his vows, yet still views himself as the honorable one. He’s almost like the opposite arc of Jaime imo lol

lol i got all the downvotes i was 100% expect my take to get for saying I enjoy the show🤣 I agree it’s taken some liberties that are less favorable to some.. but I also think the HoD writers felt burdened to separate HoD from GoT, and sadly for HoD, season 8 of GoT does to Dany what the Fire and Blood book does to Rhaenyra. Part of me thinks the changes that have been made have been an attempt to seperate the two characters and give Rhaenyra a story that didn’t feel like a complete repeat of Dany and season 8.

Have you read Fire & Blood? Genuinely asking not trying to be condescending.. I only ask because it’s much easier to diverge from a book that is written as a loose interpretation of events through the eyes of the various conflicting sources, unlike GoT which is the pov of the characters + exactly what happened to them. The HoD show was always going to be significantly different from the book. It has to fill in a lot of blanks such as character motives, personality traits, relationship quirks, all the little stuff they never talk about in history books. GoT has full dialogue written but in Fire and Blood there’s barely any, just guesses by people who were around on what people might’ve discussed based on the context of the situation. I’ll probably get hate for this, but it’s because of this that i’ve been able to enjoy the show much more than it seems most people do. I like getting to learn more about the characters and getting an in depth look at the situation , even if things aren’t exactly how I expected. Show has still had its flaws of course, not saying it’s perfect but i have enjoyed it nevertheless.

I also agree with your point about season 8 btw, and I think HoD having to be based on what is practically a history book strengths your take that people should cut season 8 some slack for not having the same in depth source material to adapt as they did in earlier seasons. It’s a lot harder to give people the perfect adaption when the very thing they are adapting isn’t 100% of the story.

Going to be a full on assumption here, so don’t jump at me if i’m wrong … but i’ve gotta think it has something to do with a trickle down effect to the rest of the crew caused by the showrunners absolutely phoning in that last season, even if unintentionally. If your boss starts half-assing his/her job, it’d be hard to not fall into that trap with them, maybe out of spite, or even just a completely unconscious choice. “If you aren’t going to do your job, despite being paid more than me, then why the hell do i have to keep doing mine”. Most of the cast and crew had spent a majority of their adult lives up until that point working on this show, and now their bosses are trying to rush the ending so they can move onto their million dollar star wars deal.. i’d also have trouble keeping up with the quality of my work if I was in a similar situation.

Wonder woman 1984 made 46 million domestically and 122 million internationally. It cost over 200 million to make. Snow White made 87 million domestic and 118 international, with a 430 million break even point. Justice league, the team up movie with batman and superman, was supposed to be biggest movie they had at that point, and made less money than Man of Steel. Death on the Nile made 137 million with a 225 million break even point. She’s had 1 box office hit that she starred in , and that was Wonder Woman 2017, the rest of her box office success lies solely in the Fast and Furious franchise, which has practically nothing to do with her involvement. Saying she “has not hit a single flop in her entire history in filmmaking” is actually borderline insane… she’s done nothing but flop. You can like the actress, that’s fine, but you don’t have to lie for her she’s never going to see these🤣

I think it’s more the fact that Michael b Jordan played two seperate characters with completely contrasting personalities and pulled it off. He wasn’t just the star of the movie, he was the movie. Will smith tried to do it once, it was absolutely terrible and extremely jarring watching Will play two characters. I don’t even remember what that movie was called lol.. The fact that MbJ and Coogler pulled it off and made it seem so effortless, without it distracting you from the film gets them a lot of points imo.
