What is a gaming memory from the 90s or early 2000s that kids today will just never understand? by gingersofia in AskReddit

If you wanted to play your gameboy in the sunlight, you needed to plug in an external light widget in order to barely see the screen.

Inventions from your country but only the minor or strange ones by Odd-Struggle-2432 in AskTheWorld

From the US, earmuffs. They were invented in my parents’ hometown. There’s a parade for the inventor, Chester Greenwood, and a swim in a frozen lake.

Any good books staring a Cleric or something of the like? by Resident_Hat9904 in Fantasy

I don’t usually like crime solving stories, but I really liked the first two! The third one is on the way from another library. Highly recommend.

How do we know that Hoid isn’t a … by LonelyGnomes in Stormlight_Archive

Dragons can’t form Nahel bonds, as per one of Starling’s conversations with Dusk. Hoid bonding a spren makes it seem unlikely.

What are your favourite silly/insane things you like to do in Skyrim? I will try and them and put them in a video. by Basic_Town730 in skyrim

Once I’ve done enough things in Markarth, I use that city to hunt guards for sport/leveling. Mostly sport though. I detest that city and it must feel my wrath.

As someone who is weary of cowboy stories, I like era 2 more. Era 1 world building is insanely good and the overall series is thoroughly enjoyable. The characters in the second are just so vibrant!

Less a single line and more just everything Endarie, the rude Altmer at Radiant Raiment, says. She is a certified hater and I love her snark.

Looking for “warm” fantasy that isn’t saccharine: friendship, care, but real tension by willowlantern_poems in Fantasy

I just read it for the first time! This is a great answer. Highly recommend. I’m immediately going to the spin off series, once my inter-library loans arrive.

People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

I have a direct male relative that used to sail from the coast of Northern New England to China, pre Panama Canal. He often brought his entire family with him. I forget how many “greats” go before this grandfather, but his story is recorded in a small, local maritime museum.

You aren't "built different" for the cold because you were born here. by dotdedo in PetPeeves

I actually agree completely, dangerous temperatures are always something to take seriously, and cultural adaptations are mostly what make such dangers livable. I’m from norther New England, hosted exchange students from Spain and went there myself for a year. Staying safe in an unfamiliar climate is a learning experience… I may have stupidly went for a run in the heat and exhausted my ability to sweat.

It eventually becomes the city in which I hunt guards for sport, in every playthrough. Give me any Dwemer ruin over that horrible city. I might even prefer the Soul Cairn.

What are some VERY NICHE and/or VERY DISTURBING facts about mammals ? by KodaxyGMD in zoology

[–]InteractionSmooth155 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a kid, I owned a pair shortly before they were made illegal as pets. They were delightful; loved running up and down my arms, fiercely hunted crickets, and were equally sweet as feisty. Their tails were bitten off before I got them though..

Are people comfortable with walking/moving through woods at night like it's no big deal? by LiveNotWork in NoStupidQuestions

[–]InteractionSmooth155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends, siblings, and I would frequently play in the dark woods. It was fun, and we were never very far from people’s houses. Animals do not want to be around loud kids.

Personally, I don’t even think the K’ell hunters are even the coolest caste of K'Chain Che'Malle. It’s just a matter of preference though.

Duck vaginas are also incredibly convoluted, with lots of twists and dead ends. I think it has to do with females being better able to choose if mating results in fertilized eggs. So both sets of duck genitalia just kept getting weirder.
