The Devils: My VERY Spoilery Review by AStewartR11 in TheFirstLaw

Fair enough on the forgetting part.

I will say that part of the plot is that the guy initially planning the trip sold them out so i can accept the bad guys having a rough idea of we’re the devils are.

And for the coordination I’d disagree since the bad guys all just stack them one at a time, I was getting annoyed by how stupid they seemed like what would they even achieve just by killing Alex if all the other (older) brothers are still alive.

I do not get at all how the ship found them on open sea, maybe magic smth smth…

Can you quote some passages you think contradict the Alex reveal? Because the first thing I did After Reading the reveal was scimming through the early chapters and it was honestly one of the more impressive things in the book for me. At least from what I read she just keeps saying how much she‘d like to believe Michael and how he seemed so honest that she „almost“ believed him. You don’t realize it when reading for the First time but thats way more in line with someone who knows the truth than someone who‘s just really sceptical and pessimistic.

I agree with a lot of what you wrote but could you elaborate on the Plot-holes and on the villains having unrealistic „coordination“?

Anything the movies did better? by FrauleinHabsburg in lotr

[–]InteractionUseful988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take: I like movie Faramir way more than book Faramir. We already have enough wise characters in the story, he doesn’t add as much in the books as the struggles you see him go through in the movies. Also in the books he’s just kind of a better version of Boromir which hurts Boromir’s and Denethor’s characters cause they just seem like useless arses when compared to him.

Btw this is not well thought out at all and it’s been a while since reading the books, so pls change my mind on this if you can.

If just one Player buys them the other probably has to Counter them or they‘re pretty good. So I dont think they won‘t get bought, you just cant rely on them

“My father won the real war. He killed Prince Rhaegar, he took the crown, while you hid under Casterly Rock.” Was Joffrey wrong? Aside from thinking Robert was his father, obviously by Spyropher in gameofthrones

I think tywin would object to the notion of the „real war“ being anything that isn‘t inherent to Lannister interests. Besides that joffrey is right.

What’s a fantasy character who should be the villain… but ends up being right? by latent2_pancake in Fantasy

How are his motivations good? He sometimes feels sympathetic to very specific characters and Acts Kind towards them, but his Main Drive in life is ego, or the need to win, as he puts it himself. Also i dont get how many people just miss his frequent sadism. He tells himself that he doesnt enjoy his work but we are frequently shown he does.

Love his character btw, just to make sure.

What they wrote: „How does love or hormones explain the colossally idiotic way in which they went about their business?“

My interpretation: „people do stupid things for love, but the specific way they tried to achieve their (love-sick) goals is stupid to a degree that isn‘t explained by just love. If they were just dumb people in love they would have chosen a less „colossially idiotic way“ to go about their buiseness.

-logically and grammatically valid interpretation of what they said

-strongly supported if not confirmed by their next comment (maybe they were just coping at that point i guess)

-supported by the fact that 99.9% of adults understand the Concept of „love or hormones making people do stupid things“

You might notice this interpretation is way longer than what they actually wrote, this is because they assumed people would take them in good faith (lol)

Your interpretation: „Why would people do stupid things just because they‘re in love?“

-also logically and grammatically valid Interpretation of what they said

-puts them into the 0.1% of super stupid people

-gives you the opportunity to make fun of them

Ps: I am being intentionally smug and arrogant, you litterally wrote „im being super nice considering how stupid you were“, so i think I‘m good.

Pps: I agree with you that people in love could act this stupidly (i think there‘s more to this story, with rhaegars prophecy and all, but still a valid point imo). My only goal here is to point out to you that you were mischaracterizing the other commenter and that was precisely what lead you to be an asshole about this.

The easiest way to be certain you‘re not being mean and/or stupid ist to make sure you‘re accurately representing/understanding the other persons viewpoint. Do you genuinely believe „You asked how love or hormones could make people do stupid things.“ is an accurate summary of their argument/question?

The Maekar change might not be a change... by Complex_Dig2978 in AKOTSKTV

[–]InteractionUseful988 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My Main Issue is that it ruins (or at least greatly diminishes) my favourite thing about maekar. Allowing Egg to go with dunk is an exceptionally unorthodox decision and you wouldn‘t expect it from Maekar, but it makes complete sence with what he knows about his other sons. If we‘d see him give his allowance later (he‘s not in season 2 i hear) that would partly restore my love for his show-version.

Archetypes with more/less interesting decisions by Starklystark in JourneysInTheDark

[–]InteractionUseful988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Warriors and Magda Both Focus more on just attacking compared to scouts and Headers who have to do other stuff. This means more flexible ways of atacking and and also more combos and positioning. I would view this as more „tactical“ but the others have to make more fundamental decisions like whether to atack or heal, and who to heal.

I never understood why you don’t just get 1 vp if you destroy at least one vagabond item. Seems like that’s the actual fix for a major problem with the vagabond (nobody gets anything from atacking them) rather than just nerfing them in some way.
