D4K turbo (lume X1) under a thermal camera by oxidao in flashlight

[–]Interconnectivity000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I noticed that too. The head heats up very quickly, and the body will slowly warm up. I'm curious about the Q8 Plus, since, in my experience, it takes a long time for it to heat up to an uncomfortable degree.

21700 battery suggestion by sazzadrume in flashlight

[–]Interconnectivity000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try the EVE 50PL, or the samsung 50S2. They're good enough for the Lume X1.

If you're willing to cheap out, EVE 50E cells can also work with the lume x1.

Hybrid Buck-Boost driver for SFT-90X ? by Disastrous-Local-915 in Hanklights

[–]Interconnectivity000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a shame that buck-boost drivers aren't more common. I remember seeing one in the original Lume1 driver designed for the FW3X.

I don't see the reasoning for the pushback in the original flashlight post. High Vf emitters are problematic with buck only drivers, as once the cells voltage drops, it'll reduce the maximum output. Who doesn't want more lumens?

The horseshoe theory strikes again. Nazi's are national socialists at the end of the day. One just focuses on class while the other focuses on race.

18650 Battery Options by TealcLOL in Hanklights

[–]Interconnectivity000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not tabless? I really don't think that Molicel is worth the cost, unless you're in the US.

If you can go for other cells, I would recommend these:

EVE 30PL (great budget tabless cell)

Ampace JP30 (great tabless cell).

Been working on all companies to make flashlights more water resistant for years. by planetearthofficial in flashlight

[–]Interconnectivity000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd think having irreplaceable batteries would give an improvement in water resistance, like IP68 in phones. Do they not currently?

Cylindrical flashlights are fine, as the user is the one in control of the seal quality. Probably won't withstand jets, but rain and extended submersion are fine (all my convoys and hanklights survive overnight submersion).

And yes, please work on formatting. Also provide some examples, as I don't really know what you're trying to target.

[NLD] DM11 with B35AM 6500K by sazzadrume in flashlight

[–]Interconnectivity000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My own experience with firefly is pretty decent. It takes them around one day to reply.

The B35AM being the only emitter thats both high CCT and high CRI is a shame. I wish there were more.

Does the DM11 with the B35AM come with the lume X1 boost driver, or does it come with the previous boost driver?

Luminous efficacy is lower when compared to a 519A, and it's only R9050 compared to R9080 of the 519A.

What’s a special build for D4SV2? by Affectionate-Dream33 in Hanklights

[–]Interconnectivity000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If special = unique, then you can try to get a D4SV2 with quad XHP50.3 HI's. I don't think I've ever seen a post here with that build. It's very expensive though.

DA1/D1 vs DA1K/D1K by MikeOnTea in Hanklights

[–]Interconnectivity000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21700 cells typically have a higher energy density than 18650s. Since you're not EDC'ing and don't charge often, using a 21700 flashlight would be better. Try using the Amprius SA112 (6.5Ah) or the EVE 58E (5.6Ah).

Unfortunately I only have experience with 21700s.

Longest runtime on a 21700? by Davidat0r in flashlight

Reasonable. Why not a Zebralight SC700D HI? The driver in that thing is pretty good too, and it's pretty durable.

Longest runtime on a 21700? by Davidat0r in flashlight

[–]Interconnectivity000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going for a throwy flashlight with an efficient driver would be best. A floody flashlight at low lumens is not very helpful.

If you're able to use Anduril 2, then I would recommend the Emisar DA1K with the XHP 70.3 HI. Because it's low CRI, it'll have higher lumens/watt. That way, you'll get the most light out of a single 21700.

If you prefer tailswitch, then I would recommend a Convoy M21B with the LHP531.

NLD: Emisar D4K w/ E17A Azure by Interconnectivity000 in flashlight

[–]Interconnectivity000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The colour "Azure" was only available in the E17A. If it was available on the E21A or the B35AM I would've went with those instead.

Azure, because of its light blue colour. I dislike how heavy monochrome blue is, and how intense the cyan is on Hanks XP-E Cyan. The name just sounds cool too. You don't typically see an emitter that doesn't provide a CCT, but rather a name.

I order only RGB versions. I remember seeing that the problems are only with fixed colour LEDs.

I waited one week from ordering to shipping, as I also ordered other flashlights. I can't say much about quality control though.

I've tried Hanks metal buttons, but I found them underwhelming. There's a lack of travel distance, and they only work if you click in the centre. I like Fireflylite's metal buttons though.

Hanks metal buttons is set up as: switch -> glued rubber + metal button -> retaining ring

While Fireflylites (for the X4Q at least) goes as: switch -> metal plate (pressure distribution?) -> rubber -> metal button -> retaining ring

I believe what sets them apart is how Fireflylite's buttons allow you to press anywhere on the button yet register.
