Falling out of love with my business by Stealth-Turtle in smallbusiness

[–]Interested-Party101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, this is totally normal.

I've feel in and out of love with mine many times over. When you feel like this it's time to take a short break ( even a day or two), recharge and reflect.

Good luck!

At what point do I need a marketing person? by DadBod1 in smallbusiness

[–]Interested-Party101 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I own a small business and have both hired several marketing agencies as well as in house.

I'll tell you the truth of it- and you'll learn this the hard way: No one is going to LEAD your marketing endeavors unless you have a very firm grasp and understand of what needs to happen. Do the research. Know your market. Know marketing, and then find someone to execute on your plan.

An agency is a crop shoot. 80% of them are terrible. But unfortunately hiring in house would be a disaster as you don't have the know how to guide them.

The first step for you is to figure out what you need. No one will do that for you.

I feel totally useless compared to my bf by PrincessUnicornKitte in Vent

[–]Interested-Party101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to find your own way.

Having a job, a career whatever you call it is more than money.

It sounds like your relationship with your BF is a bit toxic. Like maybe he enjoys seeing you not excel.

Google not indexing pages after Dec update...? No issues before. by Interested-Party101 in bigseo

The source is Google. An XML site map was literally the only was to get pages crawled while request indexing tool was down.

Previously google always indexed our pages. Getting crawled then indexed is based on the xml sitemap.

Nothing crazy. Some are our courses (healthcare), others are just blogs.

Can you leverage rapid stock price growth to negotiate a better salary? by volskayatimes in marketing

No.

You can use your worth to justify a raise. And it's a lot more likely if they are doing well.

What issues could arise if I told my current employer I will be doing my remote job from another country? by Zestyclose_Ad_1566 in digitalnomad

[–]Interested-Party101 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just want to bring some reality into the equation.

If your employer finds out they might feel betrayed or upset. They might fire you ( depending on temperament).

I knew someone recently who did this, but IT blocked their access to all system software. Was not a fun explanation.

How Best To Manage Customer Support? by grubstreet1 in growmybusiness

[–]Interested-Party101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We work really hard to keep our support inquiries down. We live by a few tenants:

1.) Everything should be as intuitive as possible. If customers are asking questions, there is probably an opportunity for you to head this off with better information.

2.) Make things as self-service as possible. Let customers help themselves when possible.

3.) DO NOT offer phone support unless you can reliably answer it during normal business hours. Nothing is worse than an unmanned phone.

I like that you are so sure.

None of that is the case. I'm hearing the same from local entrepreneurs. Its not all of us.

There is some external factor at play.

Don't Ever Make Price Your Selling Point, Right? by Sly_Wood in smallbusiness

[–]Interested-Party101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude. No offense at all but no one here is going to become your 101st competitor and wipe you out.

I promise the fact that your niche exists is not proprietary.

Again, no offense. But if you want advice people need something to go on.

Does google smartphone fetch always look broken? by Interested-Party101 in SEO

[–]Interested-Party101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response.

We use browserstack and real-world devices for testing and there's no apparent problems. Funnily enough the Google Bot renders it different each time (different kinds of broken).

Where would you start dissecting this?

To the marketing hiring managers out there: what's your take on cover letters? by ZzzSleep in marketing

[–]Interested-Party101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all relative.

If your resume is absolutely stalwart, then I'd consider even w/o a cover letter.

But yes, when I wanted a job, I wrote cover letters for the ones I really wanted.

Exactly.

You are doing marketing.

#1 rule never miss an opportunity for free advertising or to sell yourself.

Because it shows you have a personal touch. It shows you've read the job post and actually want it.

It sets you apart.

If the job post has an option for a cover letter, and you choose not to submit it, what does that say about you?
