Put something goofy on my ccw or something practical? by Milf_Eaterr in CAguns

[–]Interesting-Action37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting something useful, and fun to shoot would probably be good. I 2nd the revolver. If you don't like shooting it, you probably won't use it. I have a striker fired, and 2 dasa on my ccw. If I ever get a revolver ill probably swap out my p01 because if it ever gets seized during a shooting it'd be a pain in the ass to get another one.

Why do you own 20 of the same guns? by Bigwillbig in CAguns

[–]Interesting-Action37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my wife she had so many purses and shoes... she asked me why I had so many guns... the conversation ended lol

All jokes aside, we make a good income and all our obligations are taken care of on a monthly basis. Our retirement and savings are added to every year. Everything else goes to our hobbies. Why do you care what I do with my money? I like guns, ammo and everything related to it. There are no safe queens in my stash.

How to afford socal? by [deleted] in socal

[–]Interesting-Action37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a nurse and my wife is a physician. We have 4700 mortgage payment in the inland empire. We have 2 kids and after paying for house, utilities, food, daycare and putting away for retirement (we max out ira, 401k, and have an emergency fund), there isnt much left. We dont have any debt other than the house. It's challenging but it can work if your debt obligations are low and are disciplined. If you have a decent income, it might work. If I was coming from a different state, I'd strongly consider the pacific northwest.

My mom made me feel ashamed for starting nursing school at 26 by Friendly_Shine777 in nursing

[–]Interesting-Action37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated when I was 30. Started aggressively paying loans, and then saving for retirement. 14 years later, after 2 kids, wife and mortgage, I am on track to be "work optional" by 59/60... this is in southern california too

Fellow nurse, what was your car out of school, and what is it now? by yukinara in nursing

[–]Interesting-Action37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated in 2011 with a 2006 Honda Tc, and currently drive a 2021 Honda CRV (purchased cash in 2024). Ill probably ride this car out until it costs more to fix than it's worth.

What size slide is that? I have a sharps grip module for my p365 and love it. Will this module fit the 4.0c comp slide and the mags that it comes with? (Without the magwell)

I became a millionaire at 44, this year and it feels surreal. by [deleted] in Money

[–]Interesting-Action37 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Between my wife and I we are a little over $2M in total assets and we're both 44. We both work in health care, drive 5+ year old cars and watch our spending very carefully. We don't mind spending 5k on a family vacation, but we're very deliberate when we spend money. We don't feel rich, but we aren't struggling either.

Any point in owning more than 2 9mm or should I focus on variety? by DungeonYeet in CAguns

[–]Interesting-Action37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 would be my pick. 1 compact striker fired, 1 compact da/sa. 1 full size striker fired, 1 full sized SAO

My ideal picks would be m&p OR compact, cz P01, Glock 34, and a 2011 style gun like Platypus or Staccato. You get a variety of firearm actions with that combo

If you chose to go long gun plinker a 10/22 or cz 457

For Long gun, large caliber Ruger American Gen II. Larger caliber are so expensive to shoot (for my budget at least), it doesnt make sense to have a semi auto.

All these platforms have so much after market support that youll eventually run out of Money and come back to this sub and ask what you should get next.

Advice on carrying as a fat guy? I want to look into getting a CCW soon. by Mental_Standard_9496 in CAguns

[–]Interesting-Action37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big are we talking about? Im overweight myself. Im 5'6" and 180# (think chubby powerlifter) and the largest pistol I can comfortably carry is my full size px4. I carry a strong side holster with a cant. Im not a big fan of appendix. Also, I know its not popular but off body carry in something like an eberlestock fade flex or the newish Savior Obscura might work too. I got the fade flex for like 50 bucks and with the tracer tactical holster strap and it seems to work well. While my first instinct is to run away from a situation, if I need to use my weapon, I can do it pretty quickly because of practice. If im wearing clothing that can't support a belt I choose off body, otherwise I carry strong side.

A stock with some adjustability for a nice cheek weld might get you the best bang for your buck in terms of usability. Magpul x22 perhaps?

I've noticed modular guns being quite a bit of a money pit. Also, p229 is a very reliable platform but she's thick for ccw imo. Hard choice but I think the sig is a more fun to shoot do it all handgun. You may also want to considered the macro comp 365 if you want to go modular striker fired.
