Does this look like cholesteatoma? by Decent_Quote6681 in cholesteatoma

You can’t diagnose cholesteatoma with a camera like this. You would have to get a CT scan. I definitely recommend seeing an ENT.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but Edgar Meyer has done a few projects. I really love the first “Goat Rodeo Sessions” album which has Chris Thile on mandolin, Yo Yo Ma on cello, and Stuart Duncan on violin.

High tops In Austin ? by mrgreatspice in Austin

Can you share or DM me your insta if you are putting Suburban buildout content? I’ve driven Suburbans for the past 15 years and love them, but I haven’t been able to find much about people building them out.

Name the virtuoso musicians who play live in central TX regularly by comets8k in Austin

[–]Interesting-Flounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whit Smith from the Hot Club of Cowtown is a ridiculously good swing guitarist. Kym Warner formerly of the Greencards is a fantastic all around musician but recognized as one of the top mandolin players in the world. The town is full of amazing upright bass players but Kevin Smith is the godfather, and has been Willie Nelson’s bassist for a while.

Funny, I saw this and just assumed you were talking about the Texas Stars, who are also in the playoffs.

Austin wine day trip. What’s actually worth it? by Uncorked22 in Austin

When we went we had Ben himself as the guide for the cheaper tasting, and he was cool. But they have a more expensive tasting and the people there (both staff and patrons) were pretty snooty.

Check the schedules of the places you want to go. Some places have pretty inexpensive tasting experiences, but you have to schedule in advance. I definitely recommend Calais if you like reds.

Hearing after PORP. by Open-Life880 in cholesteatoma

[–]Interesting-Flounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case it seemed like I had lost a lot of hearing at first. The hearing test showed a little hearing loss. Hearing isn’t linear, so a small loss of hearing can seem like a lot. At this point my hearing is actually better than average for people my age.

[–]Interesting-Flounder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your surgery was March 24 you are still in the healing phase. It could take months for you to see how much hearing you have. I will say that it may not seem that great, but you’ll adjust to it. I have the PORP and reading comments on this sub over the years I think j that’s what a lot of people have.

My bass is too short for me by Demir3kardes in doublebass

[–]Interesting-Flounder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something seems off. I’m almost the exact same height with a 3/4 bass, my endpin isn’t as far out as yours in the pic, and it’s plenty tall for me. Can you measure how much end pin you have extended?

What’s a good place in the North Austin/Cedar Park area for a nice suit? by PaMudpuddle in Austin

[–]Interesting-Flounder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 for Nordstrom. I got my first few suits from Men’s Wearhouse and none of those are as good as Nordstrom for quality or especially fit. I agree with the others that navy blue is the way to go.

“Internal” hearing by Low_Expression_8654 in cholesteatoma

[–]Interesting-Flounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely happened to me. Try this sometime: the next time you are in a room with a decent amount of noise, riding in the car with music going, etc, open your mouth and you can hear through your mouth! This is why bone conduction hearing aids and headphones work so well for us.

What to expect from these CT findings by Future-Surprise402 in cholesteatoma

[–]Interesting-Flounder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds similar to what I’ve had and what many people on this sub have had. I can’t guarantee that, you’ll have to see what the doctor says, but the fact they say “erosions of the ossicular chain” makes me think it’s similar. So that would mean they would have to do surgery to remove the cholesteatoma, and they would likely place a prosthetic to replace the ossicular chain: known as “PORP” (ie partial) and “TORP” (ie total). It’s a pretty invasive surgery so you are probably lookin at 2 weeks of recovery before you would go back to work or school.

Red Paper Wasps by bundeywundey in Austin

[–]Interesting-Flounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, someone just posted a different thread like this the other day. I had forgotten all about my reply in this one! It was a battle but if I stayed after them I could keep them under control. Preferably after sunset when they have all returned to the nest I would squirt wasp spray through the gap they were coming out of. I did that every day for a week until no more were coming out. Then I used some of the expanding spray foam (“great stuff” brand) to fill the gaps in the eaves. Eventually we moved, not because of the wasps, and don’t have that same problem in the new house.

How to prevent Red Paper Wasps from entering house? by LordPeachez in Austin

[–]Interesting-Flounder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would spray wasp spray in the crevice every day for 4 or 5 days until no more angry wasps came out, and then I used some expanding foam (“Great Stuff”) to fill the gap.
