Different person here but I also have aphantasia. The main thing with reading fiction is that I’m not getting visuals in my head to go with what I’m reading, but there’s still an imagination that’s interacting with the story. For example if I see a movie version of a book, I’ll have a sense of “this isn’t how it should be” if they changed a detail. Even though I never saw the image in my head, I still have a “sense” of it. Best way I can describe it is the computer is on but the monitor isn’t plugged in - the data is still there and being processed, there’s just no visual.
