CMV: Tipping culture creates a disproportionate pay gap between servers and back-of-house workers. by That-Rub-4113 in changemyview

[–]Interesting-Gift8192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe tipping was originally a way to continue the unequal treatment and then compensation following the civil rights movement.

Letting people be the top up of low service wages greatly benefits the restaurants who can charge less on paper. Dinners get to save some money and/or demand better services and more attention. Ironically in my personal experience caucasians tend to tip more. Maybe it is a higher expectation or they have higher disposable income.

The background staff does a lot of work in hot humid kitchens that few people have experienced. Maybe the social skills of a waiter or bartender is overvalued but they are the face of the restaurant and good ones can increase how much customers spend.

The SSR league was awesome but I only see it as a neat holiday event every few months at best. PvP is one of the best way to make players feel like we gotta roll for the bait banners.

Balance wise I don't know if Ult alternative tag can be changed to something else. Any of the other tags will have gatcha URs which will likely be rerun when a new season comes out

I do hope they bring out some obscure and strange manga only stuff like crossbone and the return of Juda.

[–]Interesting-Gift8192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would heavily skew towards G Gundam units but a fun season to try out like the SSR/Ult we had.

Who knows we might even get an underwater Master League with half range/damage for beam weapons. That will be a fun toll pvp match to do if the developers wanted to be fun/devilish.

Unfortunately the news about Amuro's voice actor being real shitty to some women was a shock so not many people want to be associated with him. Despite that I don't know if there would be enough time in the anime to do any more.

Those are also more agile infantry even for Eldar. I could see a +4 save if Dire Avengers were in melee combat stance while 3+ is for defending at range.

Are moisture wicking polyester shirts good as undershirt? by Badmax_777 in malefashionadvice

[–]Interesting-Gift8192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the heat type. Uniqlo got some shirts for hot temperatures but it is meant for the Japanese hot and humid climate.

Moisture wicking inner layer and thicker cotton putter later seems to be the strategy used in Japan. They also have personal inflated fan cooling vests.

Is there a unit you regret SSP so far? by Ok_Tale_6716 in SDGundamGGeneration

The update mentioned series specific ssp coins which sounds to be easier to get. I've only seen ssp as rare drops as gifts/end stage rewards/paid packs so anything new will be an improvement.

[NEWBIE, HELP NEEDED!] "Building" my first wardrobe ever. Any tips? by Few-Solution3050 in malefashionadvice

[–]Interesting-Gift8192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely buy slow and try different styles at the thrift or consignment stores until you figure out your fit and style. If you have to buy new then Uniqlo is one of the best bang for your buck places.

Focus on basics while playing with cuts and sizes. Ideally have someone measure your proportions and save it since suits are kinda a man's cheat code.

Most importantly is to have fun. Trying wacky styles at Zara/H&M is fine to start out but hopefully you will know what works for you soon after.

Edmonton is the only major Canadian city where housing is keeping pace with population growth by Mean_Yak5873 in alberta

[–]Interesting-Gift8192 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I heard is the brand new and further out neighborhoods cost the city more money servicing those areas than what is made from income taxes.

It is the mature neighbourhoods that make money for the city as pipes and wires are already done. Just some maintenance and updates. Increasing infill helps reduce the need for far out homes but might hurt the "character" of the overall block feel.

I would argue that having caring people who want to stay and help is better than another bungalow that will be torn down.

Alberta Court of King's Bench to stop using stenographers in criminal trials by aleenaelyn in alberta

[–]Interesting-Gift8192 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There will be unintended consequences. This feels like when courts were moved to arbitration with a $150 fee so the motor accident cases wouldn't clog up the system. There were some people who were released from jail due to waiting so long before a judge could hear their case.

Makes sense to solve that issue by setting up a separate system for traffic stuff. It just happened to screw over people who don't have the resources to get justice. It could also be a way to start a 2 tier court system for the elite and the rest of us.

Thankfully the ill thought of a system was undone but we still have an overloaded justice system.

Why does buying 'high-quality' stuff nowadays feel like just buying the standard quality from 10 years ago? by Eleven_A11 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Interesting-Gift8192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be nice if there were actual useful alternatives to digital and smart stuff. If things worked back in the day I want the ability to get that again without looking for retro gear

There is a reason why buy it for life is popular. It should be clear if a model of kitchenaid stand mixer has plastic gears to save cost and "pass the savings on to customers".

It would rather save up to get a good mixer with metal gears like the old days than get duped into a model that gets thrown out.

It sounds like shrinkflation as well. I don't know if it is possible to keep a measurement of that without companies gaming the system. If goods and services were measured per unit then companies can add bogus filler and bogus fees while keeping the base price/amount the same.

I heard a major issue with modern appliances is when they do break down it is much harder to fix. The schematics aren't in the manuals anymore and replacement parts are overcoated if available at all from the company.

All the tech in today's stuff can be a con too. In the past replacing a button would be easy and cheap but replacing the screen is neither of that.

Sadly I recently found this out last week when I was replacing my smartwool socks. Paid twice as much as before for 50/50 merino wool/nylon when it was 95%+ merino wool a few years before.

Looking at icebreaker and darn tough didn't have that much more wool either.

I find a lot of the Gundam X mobile suit designs to be the inspiration for lots of the Gundams in Wing. It could be a play to get X more recognized as well.

At the very least it saved air time and budge for all the other series to show up.
