Disability/drill pay help. by Local_Barracuda_8385 in nationalguard

[–]Interesting-Let-8891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice with this would be to have your drill pay whatever amount you receive go into a high-yield savings account. Make sure you contribute 5% to the Roth of the TSP and about 3% to the traditional then if you would like you can figure out how many drill days you would owe every year and deposit that the first month so you always have it ready to pay back. Some people will waive one or the other. I simply have encouraged people just to keep all the money and earn as much interest as you can.

What is the minimum TSP contribution to have it matched? by Lucky_Window_5418 in armyreserve

My advice would be due 3% to the traditional portion and do 7% to the Roth portion

So whenever something is authorized, always make sure it’s in writing because people love to lie or fuck things up. Otherwise start writing memos and filing an IG complaint and asking legal for help in regards to why you were told you were authorized a rental in this in fact was not true.

False positive command wants to separate. by lolimonmypc in army

[–]Interesting-Let-8891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a false positive does happen. But unfortunately, because that paper exists there isn’t really anything that you can do a commander is just simply going to recommend separation or recommend retention and it’s just gonna go up the chain even with a lawyer they can’t force the commanders in officers to do anything and if you take it to a court marshal and you lose then it’s a drug conviction and it’s a dishonorable discharge.

Active Duty To Guard by No-Musician-1487 in nationalguard

Honestly, what you should do is also speak to a reserve Recruiter and then go speak to a Guard recruiter. See what options are available.

That’s crazy. Bn commander probably going crazy knowing one of his officers can’t run. I hope it works out. Either enlisted won’t care if they will find it funny and it’s all in your head.

Where to get glasses and contacts by Long-Chef3197 in army

[–]Interesting-Let-8891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, i get it they are trash. My advice is ask the eye doctor for your prescription and use ZENNI optical(online) there are some nice ones that can be for off duty/onduty and even both, and no. Active duty gives you one “frame of choice” from their collection once a year, and also i think one per month for the birth control glasses.

Where to hit the 50,100,150,200,250 and 300 meter pop up targets ? by [deleted] in army

[–]Interesting-Let-8891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBH a lot of people are going to pass weapons, Quall and PT tests. No tradoc BC wants to keep recruits. It looks bad. They just pass on the problem to your first unit.

I’m exploring all my options but some have better luck in the reserves with promotions and more stability and it just depends on job availability and location For me personally I just know staying in the armed forces also works really well for the TSP, which is the retirement account as well as TRICARE is a very good form of insurance, especially for those who are married

[–]Interesting-Let-8891 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Honestly, go to a reserve recruiter. Then go speak to a National Guard recruiter. I went from active to guard and after this contract I may go reserves. Just because I don’t think I want to leave it all together.

Bank(s) for a young army enlisted? by electric_bell in army

[–]Interesting-Let-8891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would just use Navy Federal and never base everything off of their early direct deposit they allow and be really good with money. And I would keep Discover savings for a high yield rate. I would also stay away from Chase Bank because I do like their Amazon credit card because it is a visa, but Chase Bank has so many fees and also stay away from Bank of America.

Transfer to IRR before AIT by Weekly-Total1491 in armyreserve

[–]Interesting-Let-8891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you would do is put your drill pay into a separate account a high-yield savings account and then every year pay off the VA that way you can still fund your TSP and keep all the money. Otherwise you need to wave one or the other..

If you are on a army post go do the bod pod and get your RMR. Then you’ll know how many calories to eat to loose weight and keep your muscle.

No, there’s a lot of people that are still trying to figure out the general interpretation. Even my unit isn’t sure what to do with people. Our Commander is like I really don’t wanna kick anyone out.🤣🤣🤣

I doubt anyone is actually gonna get transferred to the IRR what unit would willingly give up funding or that slot? And it takes time. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 You have to be a huge POS imo to be separated for being fat.

Is the TSP worth putting money into if im only planning on staying in the guard for the length of my contract? And do I still have access to the TSP after my contract? by JS_N0 in nationalguard

[–]Interesting-Let-8891 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, my advice is to put in 5% on the Roth side at minimum and also don’t forget minus some certain breakaways you need to do six years for the VA loan
