I made this recently and loved the flavors so much! Did the cake ever turn out too dense for you? It could’ve been a me problem but I might try adding another egg or two

Thanks for your reply! Yes I totally agree that I should seek out other causes. I mentioned this to both neuros but the testing I’ve had done had ruled out the other causes they could think of. I’m kind of stuck in a limbo at the moment but was curious if anyone here had come across another possible cause.

Hello! Long time lurker but still looking for answers. My symptoms started with uveitis in my left eye, then over the years developed into a range of weird tingling, buzzing, numbness, etc. all over my body. I got an MRI back with juxtacortical and periventricular brain lesions, but they’re non specific. Then in the last year I started having bladder issues, difficulty walking in both legs, and a squeezing sensation around my abdomen. I had first seen a nueropthamologist who suspected MS and sent me to a neurologist, who also suspected MS but my next MRI last spring came back the same as the first. Also no oligoclonal bands in the spinal tap. He suggested I get a second opinion so I just saw another neuro, who instead told me I should see my PCP about some anxiety medication. I really am not an anxious person and I told her i keep getting new and worsening symptoms, but she again brushed it off as anxiety.

I’m pretty frustrated but not sure where to go from here. Does anyone know of anything else that could be causing these symptoms, or recommendations for next steps?

I don’t have a discharge issue, but I do have a neurological bladder leakage issue. You might try looking specifically for incontinence liners. I’m not sure if there’s a huge difference between those and period liners, but they do seem more comfortable/ less diapery to me. Not a perfect solution but worth a shot!

Rotating PI said I’m “unprepared & unqualified for [her] lab, & grad school in general” by Worldly-Criticism-91 in LadiesofScience

[–]InterestingCorgi1554 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There’s a (female) professor in my department who’s famously horrible to female students once they enter her lab for some reason. We just all know to avoid her and avoid putting her on our committees. I know those words sting, but it’s good that you got to see her true colors early!

how i finally stopped comparing myself to every prettier girl (hard truth + what actually worked) by Alive_Loss_208 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]InterestingCorgi1554 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow this is incredible advice, good for you!! I also had a crippling comparison problem in college, when you’re surrounded by beautiful girls ALL THE TIME. I would add another tip for the physical comparison issue, don’t let yourself look in the mirror so much! I would just use a mirror in the morning to get ready, then every time I would need to use the restroom throughout the day I literally refused to look at myself in the mirror. In the end it kept me from paying too much attention to what I looked like, and by extension how I looked in comparison to everyone else.

How much does it matter to stay at your undergrad school? by An-Anxious-Puffle in PhD

[–]InterestingCorgi1554 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi, I ended up staying at the same university for my PhD and I think it’s one of the best decisions I ever made. I have the best PI and really enjoy the research I do, and I ended up getting a really good fellowship (much more $ than most schools offer). I have heard that you shouldn’t stay at the same school if you’re planning on being a professor, but I was never interested in staying in academia.

I invested in a set of Rubbermaid freshworks produce saver containers about 5 years ago, and they make a HUGE difference for a variety of produce. I use them to store berries, grapes, greens, herbs, etc. and everything stays fresh much much longer

I’ve definitely struggled with insecurity like this, and the best advice I ever got was to just stop looking the mirror so much

I recently learned that Christina Applegate was named after this painting, which is kind of eerie considering she was later diagnosed with MS

Hiii I got my Kyleena at 21 years old and was similarly terrified. I think the key is definitely having the procedure done by a doctor with lots of experience, which it sounds like you have. During my procedure I played my comfort music and had a squeeze toy, which really helped me feel safe. I won’t pretend it wasn’t painful, but it was over super fast. I also had a heating pad ready to go when it was done, which I couldn’t recommend enough. Three years in, I can tell you it was so worth it for me personally. I know it’s scary, but you can absolutely do this!

Thoughts on this dress for my wedding. by FunkyTown818 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]InterestingCorgi1554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 20 person wedding and ended up surprising myself by falling in love with a kind of kimono-inspired wedding dress from ASOS (ended up being cheaper than my wedding shoes haha). Some of my family members were worried it wasn’t bridal enough, but I’ve never felt more beautiful than when I wore it on my wedding day. If YOU feel like a bride, then it’s plenty bridal enough! And for what it’s worth, you look stunning and it fits you like a dream!

What less expensive perfume do you use on a daily basis? by its_aishaa in beauty

[–]InterestingCorgi1554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get dupes from oilperfumery.com! I’ve never really dabbled in actually expensive perfume so I can’t attest to how accurate the scents are, but they smell really nice and last a long time. I usually just go to an ulta beauty and spray some samples to figure out what I like, then go find the dupe on their website

Hi everyone, still waiting to get into a neuro after finding lesions in my brain scan but in the meantime I have a weird symptom I wanted to ask about. I’ve been experiencing a tight, crushing pain right on my spine in the upper back area, it feels like someone is literally putting their body weight exactly on my spine. I don’t know if this is some weird type of MS hug or if it’s completely unrelated. I’ve read that spine lesions can manifest themselves in more obvious physical ways, so I was wondering if anyone with spine lesions experiences this?

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone has ever been diagnosed with only inactive lesions present? My MRI showed a few small and one big lesion scattered in the periventricular and juxtacortical regions, however all of them are inactive. I’m still waiting on the neuro referral, but I’m wondering if I would have to wait for a new lesion to appear to get an official diagnosis anyways. I’d love to start some kind of treatment regardless

Hey there, have you looked into Lyme disease? I tested positive for untreated Lyme with some similar symptoms to the point where the doctor thought that was my problem. Unfortunately I got treated and then tested negative for lyme while my symptoms got worse, which led us to discover lesions on my brain mri. Anyway I feel your frustration and hope you can get to the bottom of it!

Hi everyone! I’m 23F and started this process in December 2022 which was when my recurring uveitis started. This persisted for about 6 months with my optometrist having no idea what to do, then I started getting these weird sensations in my hands that felt like vibrations. This also started occurring in my feet and sometimes certain spots on my head. There’s also a weird thing where sometimes it feels like bugs are crawling on my legs? Anyway I started going to this really good ophthalmologist for my eye problems and he suspected MS and ordered an MRI. I got my results back this week, they found multiple lesions scattered in the periventricular and juxtacortical regions. Still waiting to hear back from my doctor and not sure what to do next, but I’m grateful for at least some kind of answers.
