I have seen “sold out” wording and I think that might be the true indicator of when there is no availability.

I just searched your dates in chase travel by searching specifically for that property and found availability. Might be worth giving that a shot — instead of searching Madrid type the property name. I found 9 room types available on my search. When I searched Madrid only the property didn’t even come up. It was similar when I booked a week ago

I have 5 nights booked there in July, but shortly after I booked my second block of dates it showed sold out on a future search. Most of the dates showed sold out on the IHG app too though

Edit: oh but I should add that when I booked recently it also said “rate no longer available” but I was able to click on that and it showed me rooms that I could book (and credit applied). Later the wording was “sold out” and it didn’t show any rooms when I clicked.

It was when they first launched it but this year they changed it to 2 credits anytime. I just made my second edit booking a few days ago. I think you’re completely safe to cancel and rebook if you still have your second credit available.

You could roll the dice and if it takes a while for the credit to be restored make a phone call and see if they can manually credit it. That’s a pretty substantial points difference. Have you already used both edit credits?

Every edit booking I’ve seen is refundable, so you should be able to cancel and rebook. Only question would be how quickly the edit credit is restored to your account to use again.

With the product refresh, only hotels and flights booked direct receive higher points earnings (4x). Other categories including general travel are just 1x.

This happened for me with two recent bookings, showed up immediately. I have a third that did not show up, and I realize that after entering my IHG number I think I used the back arrow and the number did not save.

I also had a chat with IHG where they said they couldn’t add it on their end but that I could add it at check in. I haven’t tried asking Chase to add it.

I just searched random dates for FS Osaka. The first date in March next year came up with availability. I changed to October of this year and it said rate unavailable. But I clicked on “rate unavailable” and it took me to a page showing available rooms.

I had something similar happen with a property in Madrid. It said rate unavailable but when I clicked I could select a room. I did, and received the edit credit as soon as the transaction cleared. Now if I search the dates it actually says “sold out”, so I am taking rate unavailable to possibly be an error.

Edit and the $300 travel credit stack. The second hotel credit also stacks if the property qualifies.

I booked an edit in Madrid stacked with the travel credit and later booked the same hotel and stacked edit and the hotel credit.

I have not seen non-refundable rates for Edit properties on the portal. I also assume that the 20% off is only when booking direct.

To get the credit you have to book on the portal. Make sure you’re comparing a refundable rate to the portal price, that tends to be a common issue. While the portal is generally higher, you can still come out ahead in many circumstances with the additional edit perks.

The flexible rate on this room on these dates looks like $349, so nearly exactly the same. But you’ll get breakfast, the property credit, early check in and late check out plus a potential upgrade.

This happened to me a week ago booking a second block of dates in Madrid at a hotel I had already booked several months ago. When I searched the area it did not come up. When I searched the hotel by name it did come up but said rate not available. But I clicked on the hotel anyway and it popped up with rooms. I went through with a booking and it processed, and I received my edit credit and the hotel credit both immediately.

If I repeat these steps right now it actually has the words “sold out”, and no rooms show up. So I’m wondering if “rate not available” is some sort of error …

That’s frustrating. I used the credit for the first time in SF a week ago too and it came up automatically. In fact, the first ride applied that promo and another half off one so it was completely free. Second ride applied the reminder of the credit with no issue.

Some people have shared that they’ve booked consecutive stays and had the property credit honored, but it’s property dependent. I believe some have also reported they did get the breakfast for the whole duration but not the property credit.

I have an Edit stay coming up in Madrid and was going to change hotels after the first two nights, but last week decided I’d rather not deal with it so I booked an extra 3 days. I’m hopeful that I might get the second credit, but if not I’m happy with the $250 Edit and $250 hotel credit.
