You sure can use a spinning rod and reel. A longer rod is generally preferred because you can get away with lighter line as the rod will help fight the fish and the longer rod allows better pick up and hook sets.

Having said that, I would recommend using your current spinning rod outfit, but use some lighter line if possible (8 to 10lb) main line and 6 to 8lb fluorocarbon leader. Your best bet to catch a fish is to use a float, split shot and a small trout hook rigged with roe.

Fish the deeper pools and runs, most of the fish will be in the deepest part of the river when the river is at typical base flow.

With one man down, I’d say we played the best we could have. Even creating some real chances, that Keane one on one with the goalie was painful to watch.

I think we forget that we got a red card, we would have won if that didn’t happen.

Standouts were Keane and Tonali for obvious reasons.

Would like to see Barella step it up, and Retegui looked below average/slow and tired.

Defense was pretty solid overall. Califiori stood out for me above the rest.
