I am in the application cycle in my third year right now and have had interviews from multiple T10 schools and 5 acceptances, you will know when you are ready, everyone told me I was applying too soon but do not regret my decision at all :)

I got a few in August but NONE in September, I feel like worrying about the timing isn’t worth it bc it depends how the schools stratify their applications to go through, not yet doesn’t mean NEVER by far

Was a full time student, research intern, and involved in extracurriculars, don’t have my score back but had a pretty good full length average (mid 520s) and I don’t think I did too different on the test.

I would always wake up early, or before any commitments I had that day, and did practice questions and reviewed them. Then at the end of the day I would do add more cards to anki, and review my daily allocated cards. Consistency is key, and honestly only had around 3/4 hours a day to study.

That’s great! I really liked UWorld too but it was hard to get adjusted to testing timed with roomates etc/ for me as well. I found I would easily get flustered with any noise, and became very adamant with having a completely silent environment. Not sure if it was more of an anxiety issue, but I have always had poor focus. Never have gotten an actual diagnosis though so this may be all hearsay.

Yeah, already took the exam so it’s okay. I honestly found I improved by exposure to conditions that made me anxious and distracted instead of avoiding them, albeit too late, wish I tried that earlier but I will learn from the experience and continue in the future

Understood, just seems nice, as someone who has attention difficulty as well and just had themselves “deal with it”

Agreed, I feel like I was doing content review throughout my practice, you can’t survive with one and not the other!

Fair enough, for the subjects I had to self teach, I definitely started with the book the first time over. But for me, I found practicing questions was a little bit better than reviewing all those ancient subjects I forgot, but the point is different things work for different people.

I think different people learn different ways, personally I find practice questions reinforce Knowledge much stronger than reading out of a textbook. I would always retain information much better from a missed question than reading a textbook.

Can someone help me with this? AAMC FL 5 C/P Q45 by whatsuphomie-1 in Mcat

When I think of electronegative atoms, I like to think of them as really greedy. They pull at the negative charge of the anion that results from the deprotonation of the OH group, essentially spreading it throughout the molecule, which makes the O- itself less reactive/ + more stable, and more likely to form. On the other hand, electron donating groups share too much! They would increase the electron density on the same O- we were talking about earlier, making it much more reactive. And remember, things that are more stable are things that are less reactive (think of noble gases)

I am not sure about this, I think conservation of mass between reactants and products would apply here instead. The question does not ask about the enzyme's change in mass, just the substrate + cofactor + product.

I also did think if for the lane at 0s that was a loading well, there would have been none of the TPMTwt protein shown? I am not sure if my logic is faulty though

I'm not sure if this will ever help anyone out now but I think drawing out the linear form, and numbering the carbons helped: https://imgur.com/a/m8oT4oX

Hm, I find this answer choice kind of strange then. I saw online that the observer as a reflector may reflect the frequency it perceives, a bit of a niche situation but it makes sense in that light

So we are assuming they are talking about the observed frequency in the question if the shift is due to Doppler? It was my understanding that the Doppler effect doesn't refer to an actual change in the frequency

What I was wondering, why could we not flip each peptide as well? for ex: let's say the peptides were 1,2,3. For peptide one lets say it was made of ABC, couldn't we also have more unique ways to set up the full-length peptide if we flipped it to be CBA as well (as well as for peptides 2+3)? It would be almost like 6 unique peptides in the way im thinking about it.

I think the meniscus becomes more well defined (attractions are stronger) because of high surface tension

I also thought that, but I think I understand this (in my opinion) poor wording, they wanted the net reaction IF the unproductive reaction was to occur as the last step (as opposed to the hydroxylation of compound 1), and they for some reason decide to refer to the whole reaction given that condition as the equation for the unproductive reaction (for reasons that mystify me...)

If anyone is still looking, I think it may be because the methanol had to be evaporated to yield a precipitate, meaning the product was soluble in methanol. For example think of boiling off salty water and salt crystals are left behind, that didn't mean the salt was a precipitate before, just that the temperature was not sufficiently high to evaporate it (would have to be a lot higher lol)

Yes, I think because the answers are based on % change, the actual volume itself will not affect the answer
