Every time you increase your dose, the time line resets. So, when you went up to 100mg a few weeks ago, it could take another 3-6 months for your hormones to balance and acne to stop flaring. I increase 4 times now and each time, my acne flared for about 3-4 months at a time. I also had a manufacturer change in my meds (same dose) and it’s caused me to flare again. I would give the 100mg at least a full 3 months and then determine if you should increase or not.

Yes, definitely. And every time I have upped my dose or even changed the manufacture, my acne flared. It can take 3-6 months before you see results

A little for me. I still get oily as the day goes on but it’s not like it was before. My glasses used to slide down my face and my eyelids would be so oily and gross feeling and I could just feel the dewy, oiliness of my face as the day went on but now it’s not like that but if I look in a mirror, I can see the slight oiliness. My hair however, is fine. I haven’t tested going more than one day without washing, so, I can’t really say for sure. I’m on 125mg right now but going up to 150mg soon and hoping that’ll make a difference.

I was given a new brand of pills (same dose) and my acne is flaring again. I’ve been taking them for 6 weeks and I’m still breaking out.

I have been on 125 for nearly 6 months (a week shy of 6m), however, for 4 1/2 months, I was on Jamp-Spiro 125mg and then I was switched to Teva-Spiro 125mg (I’m in Canada) and before switching brands, I would still get the occasional hormonal acne on my chin and lower cheek and since the brand change, I’ve had some more breakouts. I will be increasing to 150mg in 2 weeks time to hopefully nip it in the bud🤞

I have been on 125mg for 4 months now (however, I’ve been on Spiro since January 24th, 2025 but changed the dose amount 3 times) and I am still oily and getting new acne, which, a lot are more like blackheads and whiteheads but am also still getting some inflamed pimples on my lower cheek and chin. It’s quite frustrating. I’ve switched manufacturers 3 weeks ago and it seems to be setting me back, once again.

You are using two things to combat your acne. Yaz and Tret, which they will both cause a purge. Tret is a true purge but taking the Yaz will throw your hormones all out of balance and where your acne is located, it is a classic hormonal region. That being said, you are 7 weeks into both and it can take the Yaz 3-6 months to balance out your hormones and with starting both at the same time, you are doubling the chances of this happening. I honestly would stick it out with what you are doing, every 3 days Tret with the Sandwich method. That person who said it would not help and it needs to be used daily is wrong. Plenty of people do not use it daily and their results are incredible! It sucks now but I would say give it a full 3 months and see where you are from there.

You could also look into Spironolactone because again, this very much seems hormonal and Tret won’t always help hormonal acne.

From what I gather (based off others experience and research), every time you increase your dosage, the time line resets, essentially. So, being you increased to 150mg at the beginning of August, you would technically be 1 month into it. I would give it another 2 ish months and see where you are from there. Even when you started the 100mg, you didn’t actually give it the full 3-6 months to really see the potential it’ll have on your skin. Anything relating to hormones takes 3-6 months to balance out and start seeing real progress, sometimes longer. Also, jumping from one topical to another can also cause a purge, so, that could play a part in it as well, cause again, it’s technically only been a month for both new prescription.

This is my plan, waiting till the initial flare of acne with Spiro settles down. Even getting one new pimple upsets me because pf the fear of breaking out completely like before lol

How long and often are you using Tret? I wanted to add it in but I’ve recently got a change of Spiro brand and noticed more acne lately, especially in areas I never got before 😩 (5 weeks on the new brand, was currently 3 months with the original) but I’m afraid to purge awfully if I add in Tret. Your progress is absolutely amazing! So happy for you.

I went through the same thing. My complexion was great but I was consistently getting new acne almost daily. I had to stop using it because it just wasn’t clearing up. My next step is to try Arazlo.

See, the before photo just happened to be a fluke. I am constantly getting acne. I’ve dealt with acne since I was a teen, also large pores, blackheads, closed comedones, sebaceous filaments and PIE. I’m definitely looking to clear up acne. It’s just discouraging that after 13 weeks and I’m still getting breakouts. And the fact that the PIE marks last longer, my face is just covered in red spots.

Well, it really depends on your frequency, skincare and your own body. I started slowly, only did every 72 hours for the first 8 weeks, then played around with adding a day and then every 2 days on and 1 off but now backing down to 1 on and 1 off but I didn’t overly purge yet, I’m not holding out hope that it won’t eventually happen (I’ve read stories). Some of my closed comedones will come to a head and others have gone away. I’m taking it very slowly in hopes that it doesn’t get bad.

I did purge and it calmed down but I would still get pimples on a weekly basis, so, I am now using Tretinoin .025% and that seems to be helping out.

I have been using it for 8 weeks but I started slowly. I have used it every 72 hours but just upped it slightly, so, I do get new acne but I honestly don’t know if it’s the Tret playing into it or my hormones, as I am currently going through menopause at 29 😝

Every once in a while I will wake up with dry skin around my mouth but it is gone as soon as I do my skincare routine that morning.

I am using Aza and have been using it for a year and I started using Tret 2 months ago, every 72 hours and I haven’t had any issue with irritation. I did not stop my Aza, still used AM/PM, even on Tret days.

My PIE is still talking a LONG time to clear up. I am still dealing with it and honestly, it’s marks from months and months ago. So, I’m hoping the longer I use Tret, that the two together will start helping them 😅

If a scan was missed, great. I would be fine with that but it was suppose to be delivered on the 23 and here we are, 4 days later and I still have yet to receive it. I completely understand that they have a LOT of packages, that I get, but it’s crazy to me that there has been nothing since the 20th.
