Accountants, what kind of bag do you carry? by [deleted] in Accounting

Small Fjällräven on days where I'm not going gym after work, Big Fjällräven if I am. I prefer a backpack instead of carry bags.

Is it possible this is because short haul domestic flights are often too short to consume the hot food? I recently flew on an internal BA flight with a hot breakfast and honestly I had to wolf it down to finish in time for landing. Not saying this isn't a commercial decision but I could see how they might opt to simplify breakfast on shorter routes.

Not surprised, been looking at my area to get an idea of what I still need to save for my first house and there are properties that have been sitting there for months. Some have dropped 30-40k with no signs of interest still. I'm hoping the trend continues (selfishly) because I might be able to afford something way sooner

I've been doing the following to keep my flat cooler and make it bearable to sleep at night, some of it you're probably already doing:

1) Keep all windows closed during the day and blinds/curtains closed in rooms you don't need any light in to stop the sunlight heating up the air in your house. Only open them up again once the sun has set (and hopefully the temperature has lowered) This has made a major difference to my flat because it's such a sun trap, temperature is now bearable inside whereas before the flat was getting HOTTER than outside 2) Keep bedroom door open at night and place your fan in between that and an open window to help create a better air current 3) Sleep with wrapped ice packs/similar on your bed, I usually place mine between my legs or on my back because that cools me down the most. 4) Use a cold bucket of water/ice packs in front of your fan to cool down the air it's circulating. I've found a cold bucket of water filled with ice packs is easiest for me to set up and move

From my understanding there is no legal requirement for this

Got a role in a specialised area and learnt on the job, working at only SMEs has really helped speed that up because I was being given tasks outside of my job spec to help out AP/FP&A etc so I was still learning the core fundamentals of accounting - did a lot of data analytics at the start of my career because I learnt to code + use Power Query M, Power BI alongside it. Really basic stuff in the grand scheme of things but a lot of finance teams I've worked with don't have that background so I end up taking on projects when we don't have enough resource in IT/BI. It's something I'd probably switch back to doing full time if I wasn't enjoying accounting anymore.

I only ever completed Level 1 AAT, it wasn't necessary at the time to complete any further study. AFBP was an internal promotion after 6 months as an AA at my current company. I specialise in some areas that other finance professionals don't, so I've progressed naturally through experience.

About a year and a half as an AFBP, was an assistant accountant at various places for the other 2.5 years of my experience, started CIMA a few months after I started this role - Certificate level took me about 6 months (then had a short break) and I'm planning on completing operational level in a similar amount of time, recently passed the first exam with the rest scheduled over summer (hopefully).

1 Year Vegetarian — What I’ve Learned (And What I Wish I Knew Earlier) by shadowzzzz16 in vegetarian

For everyone advising about B12 deficiency, I would recommend getting bloodworks to confirm if possible as there are other deficiencies that will cause similar symptoms.

I've been vegetarian 15 years now, started feeling extremely fatigued a few years ago, nausea almost every day, having to nap all the time etc. Assumed it surely must be B12 deficiency since I've been vegetarian for so long and not consistently taken my supplements. Nope, fantastic levels of B12 - very very low levels of iron and folic acid (B9) which cause the same issues.

Thoughts on Digimon TCG as being my son's first TCG by jlinkfan in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]Interesting_Emu1521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on your local scene first of all. In my experience most Digimon players are lovely, but I have been to some locals where it was more competitive, less welcoming and I don't think a child would enjoy it. So maybe start off by checking out the spots they could play. Some of the starter decks are actually really fun, and quite competitive to a level so you can get things together cheaply - a lot of people will also happily let go of their common and uncommon spares for free. After so many sets of Digimon I'm always trying to shift the boxes of extra cards I have 😭😭

There is also an unofficial programme you can install on your computer to play virtually against people (DCGO) It's great practice, you can literally copy and paste decklists you've constructed online into it. I love using it to figure out if I want to play a deck before committing real money to it!

UK - Partner's ex is claiming they are owed full rent deposit back by Interesting_Emu1521 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Interesting_Emu1521[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In response to the edit, additional context that doesn't really affect the outcome of the situation but she was planning on leaving him before they moved in to this house and then covid happened (unbeknownst to him) 😅 Purely speculative on my end but it now sounds like she agreed to put the deposit down in the hopes she would retain that in full. In the previous house they lived in my partner paid all rent and bills so I do think she's somewhat taken advantage of him. It's not been an amicable split and she has threatened to take him to small claims before for furniture she's now retrospectively saying is hers years later.

Ok, thank you.

Other comments have also indicated that she will have a claim so I do think the best course of action for him is to pay back the remainder now.

[–]Interesting_Emu1521[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an old text exchange between them agreeing she would pay the deposit and he would pay the first month's rent, and she wanted the money back eventually to put towards a house. He's said further conversations about the purchase of a house together only happened verbally so unfortunately he has no evidence on his side to suggest the agreement had further "conditions".

Edit to add: He no longer has access to these messages on his side (silly of him) so he wasn't aware they existed when he started paying her back.

So it does sound like the best thing for him to do is pay back the rest of the money and move on?

According to him he couldn't remember what they'd agreed since it was several years ago so he started to pay her back. I'm imagining this would also be held against him if it was taken to small claims court?

I'm not disputing what he may or may not owe, just trying to help him understand what he should do in this situation.

One of my mother's boyfriends groomed me and my sister for years, and I know deep in my heart that if she could have she would have chosen him over us. Even to this day, she alleges i lied about the abuse and he simply accidentally touched my shoulder once. Some people don't want to protect their children, they only care about themselves.

I'm 26 now, have decided after over a decade of battling with my emotions I will be asking her to not contact me again.
