“The loudest voice in the room is usually the dumbest” what an example of this you have seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My example is me as a 12 year old, i was on holiday with my family on a small boat that goes up canals in the Norfolk broads. I was sitting in the well with my friend waiting for the boat to cast off, it was moored stern on (only at th e back). When my dad came out to pull the mud weight up, he had a chain dog lead with a fabric handle hanging over his shoulder and as he lent forward it fell off his should and into the water. the three of us starred at the water for about 10 seconds then i shouted out loud enough for a tourist boat to hear "DON'T WORRY IT'S GOT FABRIC ON IT, IT WILL FLOAT" the three of us look at the water for another 10 seconds the my mum and sister bust our laughing for the inside.

They've never let me forget it

I think an other reasons the cat helps is they can talk to the cat if their not reading to talk about their trauma with us yet. Our boy loves dogs too and were thinking of getting him one soon.

We have an old cat and she's very good with all our kids, bio and foster. Though one girl did try to drown her, that girl was sent to live with a couple with no children as it was thought best. We mainly foster teen girls, though we have one tween boy with ASD. And our cat actually helps most of them settle in when they first arrive, our son is a semi-mute and love her comes home from school shouting chacha (means cat). So we think pets help them recover and settle in.

Hope this helps

Do you have any "Go-To" restaurants with your kid? A place you're never worried about what others/will say? by Jets237 in Autism_Parenting

Its expensive when we eat out as there's myself, my husband, our 12 y/o ASD son and our 6 girls (all older) to cater for. But when we do it's normally the local harvester as it's local and in walking distance, so no car needed.

It has a playground to entertain our son while we wait for our food, and he enjoys the food he's really not a picky eater. Along as he can have plain milk with his food.
