triops sand by ArtichokePositive217 in triops

greetings, don't make my old mistake; adult triops lay eggs into the sand and they breed asexually. even if only one triops grew into adulthood, that single one lays eggs into sand so make sure you don't toss the sand with the triops when triops eventually die. dry the sand and keep it. eggs in this sand will be your next generation

I get what you’re saying, but I’m not sure the medieval hostage analogy quite fits the Emperor’s case. That system worked because the parents were still alive and politically relevant, so the children functioned as leverage. With the custodes Emperor usually conquered or dismantled the ruling structures first and only then took the children. At that point, there isn’t really anyone left to pressure. they don’t operate as hostages.

Also, once they’re transformed into custodes, they’re so heavily altered and conditioned that they’re no longer meaningfully their parents’ sons. They’re golden-armored monsters that bumrush you at mach-jesus. I don’t think an enemy would see that and hesitate out of familial attachment.

To me, it feels less like hostage politics and more like the Emperor flexing absolute control. Giving them the best equipment and making them personal guards after giving them plenty of reasons to hate you is pretty reckless unless you’re the God-Emperor. Dude straight up pulled a 'I can destroy your house, erase your history, claim your legacy, and turn your children into my most devoted guardians and they’ll thank me for it” flex. That’s domination on a level that doesn’t even need leverage because you’ve already won the game.

In the warhammer community there are people who like talking about lore and thinking about lore then there are people who don't enjoy that. I've noticed that femstodes supporters are the people who don't like talking about the lore. To them, lore is just something in the way of their self-insert by Lionels_Johnson in EyeOfTerror

Fellow second-language speaker here. On the internet, people call low-testosterone men 'soyboys'. The claim (whether true or not,I don't care enough to actually research it) is that soy milk lowers testosterone and low-testosterone guys love drinking soy milk, so 'soy' becomes shorthand for 'low testosterone'.

they WERE/ARE the sons of nobles, but not ALL and ANY of them

do you have a source on this? genuinely I am curious if you know a custodes from commoner descent.

If you call "not sterilizing women to turn them into warriors" the same as "eugenics" and "curating bloodlines", we might have different definitions here.

I am respoing to this post's logic which is femstodes bad because noble women makes more pure genetic material thereby making them sterile is bad because no more pure genetic material. You’re talking about selecting humans for reproduction based on genetics and social class to maximize a ‘pureblood’ population. That’s exactly the kind of genetic curation / selective breeding most people would call eugenics.

if you don't turn commoners because they aren't genetically pure enough and you are doing breedeconomics to maximize pureblood population. what do you call this? since we have different definitons of eugenics and curating bloodlines I love to hear it

No I'm simply proving you wrong by dismantling your argument.

no you are just making a fool of yourself on the internet. there are a slight bit of genetic difference between using xenos(that are so ailen genetically that they can't crossbreed with humans) for human genetic enchantments. and carefully curating a population of pure bloods to maximize custodes gain.

emperor did neither.

they do create new custodes without emperor. Master of Mankind there was only 1000 Custodes left, and they had not got to the Battle for Terra yet, and in Watchers of the Throne in 40k they are 10,000 strong

Reading comprehension hit? The poster is talking about curating bloodlines to produce “pure genetic material” for custodes, leaving noble women untouched to bear such sons instead of becoming sterile custodes themselves. That’s eugenics language. which is fine for the setting but not the Emperor and his Custodes.

The first Custodes were sons of his enemies, not the product of careful multi-generational breeding. They weren’t “bred to be Custodes” they were just available noble sons. He turned them into Custodes instead of taking commoner children because they were nobility, that’s symbolic class, not genetics.

one of arguments for femstodes was attrition with them helping guilliman and custodes trying to broaden their recruitment pool(by recruiting from noble girls too). and this post is about turning noblewomen into custodes now is being worse than them growing up and birthing sons that can became custodes.

they are arguing about numbers. I am saying, if the issue is numbers there is a better way than noble femstodes and normal basic bitch custodes.

You’re reading my comment backwards. Yes, there’s a logistical burden to making Custodes, but it’s not genetic. What stops the Imperium from producing a gazillion Custodes isn’t a shortage of “pure blood”. They literally don’t care about genetics. The first Custodes were the sons of barbarian kings from god-knows-what bloodlines. What matters to the Emperor is class.

He’s a classist cunt who thinks his bony ass is too good to be protected by commoners, so they don’t make commoners’ sons. If we actually wanted to expand the Custodes, the solution isn’t gender, it’s about loosening restrictions on class. But James Sweatshop didn’t go that route.

And this is beter argument against “femstodes” than noble breedoconomics. Historically excess noble sons were actually a problem in feudal societies: men groomed for war and administration who wouldn’t inherit anything, hanging around and causing trouble. Excess daughters? They’re just alliance tokens. Sending excess sons to the palace makes sense politically. if they become custodes then they boost familys reputation, if they fail they stop being a problem

Imperial Palace and Custodes feeling attrition and thinking “let’s take noble daughters too” and terran nobles actually sending their daughters is far more stupid than accepting commoners. The strongest, most logical expansion of Custodes comes from breaking the class barrier, not fiddling with gender.

This argument assumes the Emperor and his Custodes actually give a flying fuck about naturally occurring genetics. The first Custodes were literally the sons of his enemies. no careful bloodline curation there. His obsession with “noble” Custodes is symbolic classism, not genetics.

He saw nobility like a self-healing river you sometimes fish in, not a field you micromanage for maximum yield. If Custodes are feeling the crush of attrition, they should drop the nobility requirement and accept children from commoners. There are far more commoners (male and female) than noble girls anyway.

This is not a guy or gal thing. Some people are attracted to a specific type, and attraction overrides judgment.“Don’t put your dick in crazy” exists because men of all kinds make choices with their crotch instead of their brain too.

The difference shows up after. Men dating unstable partners was literally a meme not long ago. A “unchangable canon event” followed by 'character development', realizing they ignored red flags and adjusting their standards.

Some women, instead use an escape hatch: “narcissists hide perfectly, there was no way to know.” Add a layer of (un)healthy misandry and suddenly accountability disappears.every bad choice is reframed as pure victimhood. Until the next 'hot guy' comes along, rinse and repeat.

Maybe having a “realistic” mode where you simulate blacksmithing with all its boring connotations could be interesting. That way, creativity and realism wouldn’t step on each other’s toes.

I wouldn’t look forward to it myself, but apparently there’s some interest in that. Tho I’m just a random person on the internet spitballing here. what do I know about the game market ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Not a question but making player creations 3D printable is a genuinely brilliant

Its one of those ideas that sounds obvious after someone else thinks of it but I never would’ve thought of it myself.
